Apparently Barclays are launching a regular saver account in mid Feb, paying 8-10% interest, which must be fed from a Barclays current account. This might be an incentive to keeping your Barclays account open after you've received the £100. Further details on this thread:

Spud wrote:Are we all absolutely sure that we will meet the T&C if we deposit say £500 twice in one month and the same again the next? The T&C specifically states £1000 and I'm concerned that they'll wriggle out of it by saying you only deposited £500 twice and it doesn't count? Just need to be certain as I have been accepted and am almost ready to deposit the money - don't want to fall down over a slight technicality!
Has anyone asked this of the helpline? Thanks
I'm going to play this one cautiously and withdraw £1000 from my stooze pot and deposit that then withdraw £999 once thats cleared and deposit the £1000 again the next month. Don't want to give them reasons to crawl out of the £100 :rolleyes:0 -
Some of the questions where definately flawed. One asked about a regular payment and asked if it was between £20 and £39, or £40 and £59. Well since it was £39.75 the correct answer was neither!!
BTW, OH has pass number, cheque book and acceptance letter, but still no membership number. The pass number letter says you can find yourmember number on line, but when you try you need a connect card number before you can find it!! On my side, absolutely nothing back as yet.
At least we'll be getting one lot!0 -

All of mine were multiple choice which made them easier to answer.
I still think some of them were flawed though.
I never had any multiple choice questions.
As far as I know I was just filling in the application - bit nosey though - even if a lot was ignored or inaccurate when the printed copy came to me in the post..Barclays did an Experian check of sorts - for credit history I assume.

it is ridiculous in the extreme to send all of that personal information through regular mail in this day and age. Does anyone else feel strongly about this?
I totally agree and I have already written to Barclays to complain and have decided not to open the account on the strength of it. I think it is totally unprofessional in the days of as you say identity theft. My letter was not even marked private and confidential.
On a similar vein my form was very badly formatted on what looked like a several times over photocopy.
I am not impressed with Barclays at all.
Good luck to those who persevere - I hope you get your £100. But I've decided after my experience not to touch them with a barge pole, my money and details are far too precious to leave in careless hands.Drewzz2
Happy to be here! :j0 -
does the £1,000 credit 1st month & 2nd month have to be done via Online Banking or can a cheque be paid in at the branch?0

oscarhugo wrote:I disagree with mbailey's comments along the lines that "Of course they'll accept you if you apply". Previous posters have apparently disproved that and last year I got refused for a cahoot current a/c [but accepted for a savings a/c]. I think this credit scoring is largely b@ll@cks anyway because I have in the last few months been rejected [twice] for a lloydsTSB c-card but then accepted for an M&S andMore card immediately followed by an amazon.co.ukHalifax card. Presently waiting on an Abbey-on-phone application decision!
By my comment I meant that assuming you pass the credit scoring methods they will accept you for the account. If for example you already have a barclays current account you don't meet the T&C's of the £100 offer but I would say they would still open the new account for you.0 -
I agree with Money-man-steve,it has,now become a question of principle, and I will pursue the £100.Regarding the sloppy approach to your documents, they make you jump through hoops then post the infoTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0
