I applied for the account around midnight on 18th, so not sure whether the application would be considered as 18th or 19th - whichever way the offer was still open when I applied. I had the 10 day email on 24th Jan. Still hadn't heard from them as of today, so called the 0500 number this afternoon to say I still hadn't heard anything re my application for an "online account." They asked me what date I'd applied and I said 18th (there was a cookie on my pc timed around 23.30). CS went through my name, address, mother's maiden name details etc then put me on hold. Came back to tell me my application had been accepted and I should get details in the post within a couple of days or so. At that stage I didn't push my luck about £100 offer - will wait to see what sort of letter I get, i.e. as per this thread - take ID into branch or straight acceptance letter - before taking next step.

No it doesn't matter. They just need you into the branch if they can't positively verify your identity.

STILL waiting for any form of response from Barclays on this. Got the 10 day email... but nothing since. Who else is still waiting for ANY sign of life through the post?

Thank you to Nail Lad who put the T&C down for the £100 offer. I am still slightly spooked though. i have opened an account, and deposited £500 in it last week. Today I have transferred (online) £499 back out into my HSBC account. Next week I plan to put £510 back (online) from my HSBC account and into my Barclays account. When it has cleared, I will then switch it into my OH's Barclays online account, (which he has just opened!)

To do the maths, I will have deposited £1010 within a month of opening but by the end of the month, will just have £1 left in to keep it open. I intend to repeat the above process in Month 2.

Gosh, I hope I will still qualify for my extra £100 ! I am going to buy some Premium Bonds with it and hopefully win a million!!!!

For those of you who have given up hope.............I applied as soon as the advice came out, got the "10 DAY" email on 24th and have just received the application form/signature forms in the post.

Have you tried phoning them ??

The helpful soles here will do everything we can to help, but obviously we don't have any info on specific accounts, you will have to ring Barclays for that. The number is free.

Can someone let me know the 0500 number to ring them on. My letter on quotes the 0845 number.
I did look back over several pages but could not see it.

Easier way to find it would be to go to the website and go to the contact us section.

Very helpful lady confirmed I had been accepted and would receive a welcome pack soon. Also confirmed that £100 would be given as long as 2 x £1000 went into account as per t&c. I did not even ask about £100 - she volunteered the information.
