Been away for a few days so just catching up with all the messages and my post which contained no less than 6 different envelopes from Barclays advising me of my new on-line account details.

1.A welcome letter advising the account number and sort code which incidentally is different to the one mentioned in an earlier thread. Whether that has any relevance I'm not sure.

2.An information booklet welcoming me and advissing me of all Barclays products.

    3.An On-line banking membership card/number.

    4.An on-line banking passcode

5.A current account 'regular payment form' and a 'facts' pamphlet about my new current account.

    6.A cheque book.

It's going to cost them as much in postal costs sending out all this info as it is paying us our £100.

Interestingly enough the welcome letter is dated prior to them sending the e-mail advising me of a 10 day wait due the unprecendented demand they were getting.

Now to log on and bank start banking - here's looking forward to my £100.

    Good luck all.

can anyone please post the 0500 number that was printed on the letter so I can check if I appied before the 19th cheers.
  • The number is: - 0500 007 234.
  • Wa-hay!!! Just had a 'phone call from Andy on the Barclays 0500 number. Having threatened everything from Watchdog to Trading Standards and everything in between (stopping short of sending the boys round, of course!) he now informs me that they have received an email and a fax stating that people having to take ID into branches will still be classed as onlline applicants and will get the £100. Result!

I received a letter today informing me that Barclays have refused my request and the reason given was credit scoring. However, as far as I was aware I was not asking for credit, I did not request an overdraft when I applied. How can they base the decision then on credit scoring.
I have checked my credit report and everything seems to be in order, I have no late payments or problems on the report and only 1 search relating to a credit application in the last 6 months.
The only other factor I can think of is that on the application it asked if my salary would be paid in to the account to which I answered no.
They did offer me a basic card account.
Any thoughts on this, is it my history or are they just looking for excuses to turn people down????
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAD THEIR APPLICATION ACCEPTED - ENJOY THE REWARD!!!

    IMPORTANT NOTE

I realise many of you are questioning the score at Barclays. I genuinely believe it will honour the £100 pledge to those who signed up in time, providing you fulfil the terms. However there is little i can do until those terms are fulfilled so we have a couple of months to wait. However please rest assured, I'm watching and will see this through

I've received the letter today asking me to check and sign the application form and signature mandate. One part of the app. form that I filled in on line (Barclaycard number) is not filled in on the form. I guess I should fill this in so as to not hold any info. back??

Looks like I may be ok though as the pre-paid envelope is addressed to the 'Online Processing Team' although there is no mention (that I can find) about the £100 offer.

Martin, I believe so too. I have an a/c open (as does my husband). We both applied in time thanks to your e mail and gone without hitch so far. Our first £1000 is on its way to them so we are feeling quietly confident. Much appreciated.

Agreed although it's a shame they instructed their call centre staff to tell customers who were asked to provide ID the opposite.

At last I have recieved my letter from Barclays and no requirement to show proof of ID in branch, just sign the application form and specimen signature slip.
Hopefully the Barclaycard issue won't be a problem, although on the 8th Jan I sent a letter closing my Barclaycard account so I may be okay anyway. (although the closure acknowledgement letter was not received until 24th Jan)

I also stated that my salary would not be paid into the account, but I still got accepted.

Hopefully Barclays have decided that they are on dodgy ground if they don't honour there agreement and will realise that the bad publicity that they would receive could be more costly than the £100 offer.
I am sure that Barclays solicitors have been busy since the 19th Jan.
