Perhaps it is time for all those in this thread who feel that Barclays are not honouring their original offer to, indeed, contact Watchdog. It seems they are coming up with differing reasons but all adding up to the same thing. They're trying to get out of it.
Now, when's Watchdog on next..........0 -
I applied online for an account and received an email a week later saying there was a delay due to high demand.
A week later I had a letter rejecting my application due to credit rating - 1st time in my life this has happened. An excuse for Barclays????
They still offered my other fodder accounts however...0 -

Surely everyone should just open the accounts now even if it means taking ID into the branch. Everyone should pay in £1000 as per the T&C's for the next 2 months.
Then we should give Barclays a chance to pay us the £100.
If Barclays refuse to pay the money, then we should contact Watchdog and get them involved.
If everyone knows they have followed the original T&C's then regardless of what Barclays are saying now we should all carry on and only in 2 months time get Watchdog, Martin and the press involved.
Hopefully by this time Barclays will have 1 common answer as well and not tell people different stories.0 -
I had a student barclaycard which I cancelled but they still send me statements.
I guess I won't qualify, then."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -

It's a lot of phaffing around for nothing, perhaps? I will take my ID into my local branch and insist on assurance that my application will still be classed as online. And I will sit there until somebody can offer this assurance - in writing.0 -

In an ideal world I would agree with you. But I have a considerable distrust of these large corporations. I can't help thinking there will be something saying that acceptance of applications were at their discretion or something and then weedle out of it. I don't think it's worth all the hassle including loss of interest on the £2000 etc and risk getting nothing in 2 months time.0 -

Me again. I have already been told by a man on the 0500 number that I won't be eligible for the £100 deal because arrangements will be completed in the branch as opposed to online.0 -

You should be fine - be positive!
Make sure the Barclaycard is cancelled though if you don't want it, for the sake of your credit rating.0 -
I only received my letter from Barclays this morning - it just asked me to sign the form & signature mandate and post them off to the Online Processing Team... i phoned the 0500 number but the girl wasn't able to tell me if i was getting my £100 or not - said the application wasn't processed until 27th - although I applied online the day before the offer closed. She said to phone back once my form had been sent back and processed - said she'd probably be able to tell me more then.
I'm presuming that because i don't have to go near a branch that i'm probably safe...?0
