Nah, dog....wolf....all the same once skinned. We haven't covered that yet - end of civilisation means no Primark / George at ASDA......note to self: make sure stashed survival book has section on tanning hides.

It involves dog poo. Not a nice process!

Yes, I remember watching one of those Tony Robinson 'Worst Jobs In History' programmes that covered the job of tanner. _pale_ Rather ironic for the poor doggy, keep it and feed it long enough to get a big pile of turds, then skin it, make casserole (and liver pate for thirsty neighbours climbing fence to eat you), and use its poo for tanning the skin.

Still, at least nothing would be wasted - very OS MSE:money:(I really do not like that twisty-turny Martin Lewis thing)

Bambi burgers are nice as well, they are made with a very small amount of pork for fat content, I got my last lot from the bloke who shot Bambi. Nice.

Venison is delicious - I don't understand why it isn't more popular. Maybe price.

In fact, most game meat is really tasty.

Not only is it tastier than farmed meat, the animal likely had a better life and it is a lot healthier than the conventially farmed equivalent ... leaner and no antibiotics/hormones or whatever.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

My DD has a boyfriend now, and he's lovely (for a teen boy IYKWIM) but he lives miles away. His family own a farm producing venison, corn and some other grown crops.
He was telling us about it all during dinner (and he has lovely manners too ;) ). They get an order from the butchers (mainly pre Xmas and pre Easter) and shoot to order. He was not allowed to join in until he was good enough to shoot clean through the head.....he got to that stage aged 13.

As they are young, and it's the first boyfrend...it'll probably fizzle out after a while.....but *sigh* it wiould be great if it lasts....some teen romances do.

She's gone there today for a tour of the farm (but is a bit apprehensive over the ''killer dogs'' that guard it....I think he was winding her up tho') and refused to wear anything practical....so will be looking around his farm in sequin pumps.
  • How old are DD and her BF?
