As a result of this thread I have-
-put on my best underwear for the cockroaches
-located my SAS survival handbook and enough waterproof material to make a small shelter in the woods
-decided I really should go to the cash n carry and buy several thousand litres of water/matches/tinned food/vitamins/alcohol/several pallets of non-Belgian chocolate
-go to the bank to collect my meagre savings- NYE not being ideal because all the banks seem to be closing early
I've probably left it too late now and will be eaten by a more organised survivor on the third day of armageddon! No point in rushing out now then - will sit here with my big box of Roses stocking up my fat levels"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux0 -

Will book tickets in new year(so long as they can get past all those cockroaches in ford mondeos)
At the moment VERY full as because of my appalling planning for the end of the world (only 1 15kg bag of cat food in cupboard) they had to go diy last night.
I now have lots of feathers to stuff the empty beanbags with;)0 -
Has anyone mentioned the kendal mint cake yet? (and does anyone actually eat that stuff?)
And for the real money savers amongst you Woollies are selling off huge boxes of their pick'n'mix. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Well after being at my mum's this last few days - I was forced to read the DM (bleeach) but did come across this article so have decided that if the worst does come then we only need to go out into the country side and get us some Bambi!!!:D
Seriously though - it is so cheap at the butchers I got enough for a casserole for £2.10!! And that's allowing for left overs!Noli nothis permittere te terere

Bambi burgers are nice as well, they are made with a very small amount of pork for fat content, I got my last lot from the bloke who shot Bambi. Nice.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0

brodders?
sorry bit slow on the uptake
absolutely nothing to do with the empty bottle of merlot:rotfl: :rotfl:
I think drbeat means mr.broderick.Do they? [have 3, 6 or 12 months savings]
I think you will find it depends on the family situation.
For those who choose to have one main wage earner and the other stay at home to bring up the children, I would think a very low percentage of those would have any kind of decent savings at all! In todays day and age it must be very rare for families on one income to be able to cover everything and be able to save.
Ditto single parent families for same reason.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
