I applied after the first tip from Martin ( 7th December) and got a standard reply saying it could take up to 6 weeks, since then I have heard nothing despite sending a couple of emails. Should I wait for the number or have I been rejected and they forgot to tell me. Is anyone else still waiting? Bit of a shame really as I have just cut up my Amazon card after getting the £15.Remember a bank will always lend you an umbrella, they will always take it back when it rains0

I applied for my Amex card direct with them when it first came out and I think I got 1000 points, when I heard that there were 6000 points on offer by going thru Moneysupermarket, I called them up and said how unfair I thought it was that I was getting punished for actually being quick to apply when new customers were getting much better rewards.
After being put thru to one other department, they very kindly offered to match the reward, adding another 5000 points to my account which are now sitting there - (along with the other 25000 I have amased over the yrs with no idea what to do with)
Cheers MartinTreat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
Can I just point out that if you have kids, the best value vouchers on Nectar are Adams vouchers - 6000 points are worth £60 of Adams vouchers instead of £30 for every other high-street Nectar partner. Even if you don't have kids, you could probably sell them on ebay - you won't get face value, but you should get more than £30.0

...that's why we aborted our attempt - because they said in the small print that you had to spend something on the card, and we didn't see how we could do that before 31st Dec (as it was then) when we were only applying for the card on the 23rd! They take a week at least to come usually.
If we had known they were going to extend the promotion to January we woud have gone ahead, as we would have had the card in time.
Didn't anyone else spot this?0 -
I've just rung American Express Nectar Customer Services on 0870 4100100 and the CS person said that 2000 points are credited in the first month by AE and the balance of 4000 points will be credited by moneysupermarket.com through AE on next month's satement. Do we believe that? If so why do they not make it apparent on their promotional blurb!0

I was told the same tribe when I called up, that the missing 4,000 points appear on your 2nd statement. I don't believe them, so I am going to write a letter to them0 -
I got my statement with only 2000 points on it, as did my mother for whom I applied for a card at the same time. Have just rung 01273 863863 and spoken to a guy called Denny who is wortin g it all out and crediting us both with the missing points. He didn't make a fuss about it, sounded as if he had been doing this many times.

I was told yesterday that someone would telephone me in the next 7 days. Just rang again and was told that the missing points will be added by Monday next week at the latest. Am I begining to see a light at the end of the tunnel?
Also, they are having a high volume of calls. Now... I wonder why??Irene0 -
IMPORTANT Update Note 19th January 2006 2pm
I've just come off the phone about this. This is the latest. Amex are promising all the MSE people who did this via the MoneySupermarket link will get their six thousand points (providing they've spent) by the end of next week. I have accepted it on its word about this.
However if at the end of next week there are still people missing, don't worry. I don't plan on letting this go. So at the moment its a 'lets hold until next week and see how we do'
Hope that's ok

Thanks very much Martin. I am sure Amex would have offered much more resistance without the support of your goodself and the MSE forum.Irene0
