IMPORTANT UPDATE NOTE

During December, I showed you via the credit card freebies article how to get a free £30 worth of Nectar points. You had to apply for an Amex Nectar card via, then once accepted make a small purchase on the card. This would then lead to 6,000 Nectar points being credited onto your account – roughly worth £30.
As I stated at the time this was only for people who went via a special link on comparison site MoneySupermarket. Many people did this, and most people got the points. Yet I've read disturbing reports in this Chat Forum that people haven't got the right amount of points, just 1,000 or 2,000. Worse still some Amex operators said "MoneySavingExpert had no right to do this promotion" when of course it wasn't an MSE promotion, I was simply providing the legitimate Moneysupermarket link (which had been ok'd!)
What now?
I've made my usual subtle and calm representations on this matter (ut hmm) and persuaded American Express to provide a special customer services number for you to call, and ensure you get the full amount of points.
This has been agreed.
I am currently waiting to be given a special phone number which you will be able to access to get the right points. I had hoped it would be here in time for sending the email tip out. It isn't..... but i wanted to let people know i'm on the case. Please check back on this thread the number should be here by Thursday PM at the latest - i will update it
Hope it helps
Martin
IMPORTANT Update Note 19th January 2006 2pm
I've just come off the phone about this. This is the latest. Amex are promising all the MSE people who did this via the MoneySupermarket link will get their six thousand points (providing they've spent) by the end of next week. I have accepted it on its word about this.
However if at the end of next week there are still people missing, don't worry. I don't plan on letting this go. So at the moment its a 'lets hold until next week and see how we do'
Hope that's ok
Martin

I only got 2000 points, but when I rang they said the remaining points would be applied a month after my first spend - I'll give them till then, then chase them up!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I phoned them today too. They said that the points are only added after they have sent the first statement. I will look out for them!0

Indeed, AMEX have told me that the points are posted after the end of the calendar month...-db-0

I applied in good time using the Moneysupermarket form. I phoned customer care at Amex the other day to complain about the missing points, they only gave me 1000 as my card only arrived early January.
Nice lady claimed that owing to a technical problem some cards went out late and that they will add the other 5000 points to my account within the next 2 weeks...................Heres hoping!0 -
I received 2,000 points split as follows:
Bonus Points from Moneysupermarket 1,000
Nectar Welcome Points 1,000
Total Bonus Points 2,000
Who gave me the Nectar Welcome Points - Nectar or Amex?
Who should give me the extra 4,000 points - Amex, Momeysupermarket, or Nectar?
The Amex guy did say he'd look into it.0 -
Thanks for helping out Martin
I also only received the 1000 points and was planning to ring them up tomorrow and give them a piece of my mind - the swines!. Will wait now until the number you mention is published. This is the fourth stitch up by a company I have had to endure in the last week and I'm close to telling all commercial companies to get stuffed and going full-time self-sufficient !! my ac has been credited with 6000 points after few phone calls0

Wasn't it the case that even if you were declined you should have got 2000 points? I seem to remember a set amount of points for just applying?
They turned me down - yippee!! But I'm sure I was promised 2000 points for applying?Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0 -
Interesting reading as Nectar have run previous promotions offering 6000 points, though this time it was to join Vodafone (approx April 2005). When I did join Vodafone, I had major trouble actually getting the 6000 points as no-one seemed able to authorise it, or the telephone numbers were invalid (it was excuse after excuse). Anyway, my persistance paid off - I ended up with a cash substitute of £90 off my mobile bills!0
