Shiff, thanks for the note but the girl at the call centre is talking baloney!

The offer was an exclusive through MoneySupermarket.com, and the link everyone clicked through was MoneySupermarket.com.

The following is the original note sent out in the tip which as you can see explains it.

URGENT FREE £30 from Nectar: December only
Sign up for a new American Express 'Nectar' credit card and you earn 6,000 Nectar points (worth £30) when you spend on it. Yet 'spending' can be as little as a Mars bar and you still get the points! Be careful, 6,000 points are only available via this link Amex Nectar* as it goes through commercial price comparison site Moneysupermarket (otherwise it's just 1000 points). For full pros and cons on the card, and the impact on your credit score readCredit Card Freebies Article (Special mini-muttering)

The problem here is two-fold

1. Amex simply hasn't credited Nectar points when it was supposed to. There is no 'as a PR goodwill gesture' it has broken the terms and conditions and admits to so, which is why it is having to give everyone the points

2. The only confusion is people rind up and say "MoneySavingExpert", whereas the deal was MoneySupermarket. However no one applied via this site, all technically applied via MoneySupermarket as I deliberately used that link to ensure people got it. Thus the only confusion is what's been said to the call ops.

The fault here is pure and simple - Amex has not credited the points it was supposed to and I'm doing everything i can. They now promise ALL points will be credited by the end of this week. If not they will be providing the phone number. Sorry this has taken so long and been such a hassle.

Martin

I got them to supply this site iwth a link, but technically everyone totally correctly applied through them. It isn't just MSE users who didn't get their points, many people didint get they're points.

This was noted in the original email. The mistake is pure and simple Amex hasn't fulfilled its promise.

The only possible confusion is

Sorry Martin - I stand corrected and humbled! It's all clear now. The similarity between the two website names has misled me I think - as it has others.

Perhaps the powers that be at Amex have put a different slant on the situation to their staff - to try to hide their embarrassment at their boob!

The way you have just explained it is the way I had interpreted it, but now I feel I can talk to them again, if necessary, with even stronger conviction of being in the right.
I seem to be in a very small minority of having 0 points rather than the 1000 or 2000 version but they did promise them by this Friday 10th or they would do it manually if I rang again, and made a record on my account of this second call.
Apart from this snails pace promotion everything else about them seems good and I've always intended keeping the card as the doubled up points with the nectar loyalty card at Sainsburys is a good deal on its own.

Schiff forgive me, i didnt meant to have a go at you. I was furious with Amex. IN fact I called them up and told them so and a note has gone to call centre staff explaining that this was an Amex fault and thats how it will be explained. So i suspect no more confusion. Also they've now promised me an email to sort out any further problems sharpish. It should come tomorrow or monday. I will start a new thread at that point and put it in the email tip next week :)

I've been watching this thread with interest, given I too only got 2000 points. Have held off phoning them up so far, but it's not good that people have had to go through all this effort just to get what they were promised.

Tried the 0800 - Free number - out of order!
Used the Amex/Nectar Freefone number - Got to call centre which appears to be overseas! - They can't help.
Ringing Amex customer services 01273863863, selected 'option 5' - speak to a customer services advisor, currently waiting for the phone to be answered - 35 minutes no reply !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
