  • Please go to the copshop & don't leave until they come out or something, not saying you're not doing enough, I know you're doing all you can, but they don't seem in any hurry. My Uncle & Aunt had a Dog like this, a GSD x, no idea what the other half was. He got nasty & they have two kids, well, grown up now but little then. They rehomed him to someone who was an experienced dog handler, ex police or military I believe, where he'd never be able to be a danger to anyone.

I really wish your neighbours would do the same!

I asked about the re-homing but they said that they only have so long to rehome them before they are PTS - dont know if its true? Dont want him PTS as he is doing what he is trained to do - said before he'd make a fantastic guard dog in a factory where he could roam about but i dont know if anyone would want to take him in to retrain?

I don't think you need to bog yourself down with that, its not your problem.

You protect your daughter, let the police deal with the dog & owners.

He needs to away from those people at any costs.

Its not just your child at risk with a dog like this. All the kids locally are at risk. I hope they are banned from keeping dogs in future.
  • Hitting some Dogs over the head just doesn't work.

    Depends how many times i hit it . . . !

touch wood, fingers crossed etc it doesnt ever come to that. Im hoping the police had a word with them today - if not today then hopefully over the weekend.

depending on if the dog is deemed to be rehomable a rescue may take it on, but a thorough assesment of his temprament would be taken out on him by a person with the relevant experiance.

It is the council pounds & places like that that give them 7 days until they are PTS, there are rescues out ther that are able to take them on and keep them safe until rehomed

if you want any information on this pm me & i can pass on some details of the relevant rescue.

    UUUHHHHHH WRONG
I have 4 acctually.. don't assume, asumption is the mother of all !!!! ups.. 3 girls 1 boy aged 16 /14/9 and 6

I also Happen to have a BIG DOG & actually KNOW what I am talking about. I took the time to learn ALL there is to know about my breed and big Spitz type dogs. So DONT think you can assume anything Mely. The OP is to me just posting some weird stuff (got DUTCH courage) and I find that some posters here are the kind that seem to be not very nice people (Poisening and shooting animals is ok?????)

Yes Mommyme....you cant worry yourself about what will happen to the dog. Your main priority (as you know) is your daughter and other children nearby.

I guess anyone wanting him would need to really assess him, afaik guard dogs are highly trained & for all we know, the neighbours may not have properly trained him to be one. My Great Aunt had a Pub & Dobermans as guard dogs, when we visited they were sent next door & when my Great Uncle died she had to part with them as she couldn't control them, he did. One did attack a guy also.

This dog could be too dangerous & not a properly trained guard dog, in which case he should be PTS. He may however be able to be used as a guard dog with people who are highly trained themselves, but idk where you'd find them, I bet the police could advise. The Dog I had PTS was after thinking if she could be used in any way, I thought about the defence animal centre etc but she was too unpredictable.

I guess it needs to be removed from it's Owners, placed in suitable & secure accommodation & thoroughly assessed. The Owners IMO should be prosecuted for keeping a known dangerous dog that they have said will have your Daughter, on their property & letting it get into your garden!

No i nknow hes a danger to other kids which is why i said a factory or somewhere he can patrol. We had our dog PTS last year, she had lumps on her belly, they operated once but they came back and as she 14 they didnt want to risk putting her through an op and it broke my heart. I refused to talk to my mum and dad for weeks, Midwife had to come and sit with me on the day in case i went into early labour and i know its a completely different situation but it should be the owners who are punished, not the dog

Dutch...its just that you seem to prioritise dogs over children so i couldnt help thinking you didnt have any with your attitude.
You were very unfair to the op (as you hadnt read all the posts),as you suggested she let her little girl look out of the window at the snarling dog!
