" At this time zavvi Ireland is not subject to any formal insolvency proceedings."

    Any thoughts on this one?
  • Just read the back of the gift card i have at home for £120 which was got a few months ago.

    point 9 states:

zavvi reserves the right to add to or waive these terms and conditions on reasonable notice in advance for legal, security, or regulatory reasons via in store displays and online at www.zavvi.co.uk. Further, where for the reasons above the cards have to be discontinued, a notice or such discontinuance shall be displayed instore or online at www.zavvi.co.uk and shall take immediate effect. All money on the discontinued cards shall be refunded to the card holder in cash upon production of the card in store within 48 months of notice of such discontinuance.

Any one have a view whether these terms and conditons carry any weight?

They don't make any difference. Once the company has gone into administration, they are protected from creditors (including yourself as a gift card holder) whatever the terms and conditions of the original loan were.

  • Being a member of the general public who has a £50 Zavvi gift card I decided to run a survey to find out how much money Zavvi has stolen.
I have therefore setup a survey at http://zavvi.computernetz.co.uk where members of the public can enter in the value of their giftcards. The site will then show how much has been registered and how much Zavvi owes the owners of the giftcards. Please note that this is by no means related to the administrators or Zavvi, you should still try to get your money back from the administrators

I don't think there's any way they will honour gift cards issued by a sister/parent company in £, which is to them a foreign currency.

If anyones like me cash just gets swallowed up on bills rather than the gift intended!

As a zavvi employee there are so many comments on this page that I want to take issue with, but others have done it for me! Its nice to see that some people do understand there are people working in the chain that have been there for many many years, have mortgages and kids, and absolutely love what they do!

Its hard being in store at the moment, and I hate having to enforce the gift card issue, but I don't have a choice. There are far more friendly and understanding customers than there are angry ones, and we really do appreciate the kind words we get.

    it's not over yet!
Not for you !,but it is over for all the people who bought your firms !!!!!! vouchers.
