dont feel for the sodding administrators. They are the only ones in this that will get paid in full.

I gave my brother a Zavvi gift card for a wedding present. We tried to redeem the gift card today against a selection of DVD's and CD's. As you have all been told cards bought before the 27th November are not guaranteed to be paid! This is daylight robbery. After threatening to walk out with the goods and leave the gift card they called security. I was not arrested but I think he was more scared of me than I was of him. They don't give a damn that they are illegally holding onto money belonging to customers who trusted them in good faith. It is illegal what they are doing. Can we do anything else about this?
The manager kept saying how bad it was because the news broke on Christmas Eve. Not sure if he wanted me to say don't worry I will just forget about my money or what! Incidently Finding Nemo is on sale in Zavvi for a rip off price of £20! as is Mickey Mouse's Twice Upon A Christmas.....crikey they have over inflated the prices of remaining stock. If I buyer we to be found last minute I'm guessing they would have lost a lot of loyal customers due to the treatment those with gift cards have experienced. It's atrocious to say the least!0 -
Went in to Zavvi today mainly out of curiousity, they had Disney's/Pixar's Ratatouille DVD for £25  , I shook my head and walked out.0

Please don't take it out on the staff in these situations. I am sure they are doing their best in what must be a terrible situation for them. Think how you would feel on the receiving end of such anger through no fault of your own?!! It serves no purpose. They are told what to do like any other employee.
And don't buy vouchers. I can't understand why anyone would restrict a present to one place, just because the bit of paper looks more attractive then ten pound notes or whatever and comes with a card that can be found better elsewhere?!
Give cash or a cheque, so it can be spent as and where wanted. If it doesn't look smart enough, use a cool iron, or go to the bank and ask for the new stuff! My aunt does, and always gives out pristeen looking notes you want to frame, they look so attractive and clean!

I do not agree. An upset kid is much worse. I am not being funny but there are lots of shops you can get a job in. If your kid has lost all their chrimbo pressies like the poster who had got £100 for his kid only to have to buy everything again from amazon to save the kid from heartbreak is worse in my opinion.
Id love to see the demographics of staff emplyed by zavvis. 1.3 were temops anyway and the rest are kids probably with no mortgages or kids to support.
Its crappy when your company goes under. Mine has been in the hands of the adminsitrators since May but you can get another job.
I can't believe some of the stuff that is written here... An upset kid is worse than losing your job LOL... what a load of rubbish!!!0 -

All these posts about not buying vouchers and send cash are plain arrogant. Vouchers have been around for years as book tokens and the like. If there was no market for them then they would not have survived until now (they are probably dead now after this episode).
Hindisght is great and maybe many of us would not have asjked for them or given them but dont come here and say never give them, that helps no one espcially those poor sould who have lost money and their Christmas/bbirthday/get well. retirement etc gift is worth naff all.
Each to theri own and many people like giving and receiving vouchers.

I lost my job in Adams, I walked over and got another one in Baby Gap.
A kids broken dream is worse but then I have twins and they are my all.
I do not think "its rubbish" I think its fair comment and each to their own. The poor women whose husband had cancer was a lot worse.
