Come on... ok so people have lost a few quid... I myself have lost £30 but to say that losing a job is not as bad as telling a child their present can't be used is ridiculous!
Just listen to what you are saying.... people made redundant can't make their mortgage payments, can't find a new job as unemployment is at its highest level for years but your chilld can't spend his/her £20 voucher... my god it's a scandal!!!!
I've been made redundant before and it knocked me sideways... my confidence was at an all time low, I struggled for money and had to get myself off the floor. It all came out of the blue just like Zavvi.
I've also had my child upset.....

Arrogant? In what sense?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

You are faced with this sentence, " have 150 quid merry hill voucher as was goin toi spend some in there an they said thats the only one they are excepting... ridiculouse isnt it that there excepting vouchers that arnt theres!" and it's the accept / except that gets you bothered? Where would you start......?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Broken dream? We are talking about a computer game, here! Part of life's rich tapestry is learning to deal with disappointment....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

The perception that buying a voucher is inferior to cash. As I said hindsight is helpful to all, vouchers are very popular or they would not have survived. They probably wont survive now mind you,.

Just like christmas hampers they'll probably plod on because of the section of society that still needs them to spread the cost.
I would say one of the reasons vouchers have lasted so long is because over time it's been considered to look more 'common' or less 'exciting' than getting cash for a present.
But as we all know, and have known since we were kids, however long that might be, that vouchers are a MASSIVE pain in the bum. You are trapped into using them only in one shop, most often not one you'd want to buy at especially because what you wanted was never on offer, or these days, when the thing you want is £x more in the shop than online so you waste most if not all of the voucher in using it.
I would only give vouchers if someone specifically asked for them. And this christmas I did as with vouchers from friends and a discount voucher and the start of the sales my friends got a hell of a lot from Mothercare.0 -
A child will get over not getting a present, shockingly enough they would survive getting nothing at all. A family whos main breadwinner is suddenly out of work may lose eveything.Barclaycard 3800
