Thanks for this. I hadn't realised it was a time thing.

I have just tried now, and successfully applied ok.

Finally received confirmation the account is open with account numbers. Now just applied for online banking so probably another couple of weeks before I can see the account.

I can't believe they are sooooo slow. It's is almost as if they don't want our business...

Shucks... you applied after me, and I ain't had my confirmation
Maybe you were quicker off the mark sending back the first form. Sent mine RD, which didn't turn out as planned. I know it's not guaranteed like SD but with 1st class postage thought/hoped it would get there next day, but instead it took three!

The rate fell to 2.5% from today, or 4.0% for those getting the introductory bonus.
  • Happily for me, I finally managed to prise my money from Tesco's clutches having eventually got through to telephone banking. If I hadn't I would still be waiting. I have received the card reader and card, but no PIN. The letter that came with the card mentioned that if I didn't receive the PIN within 5 days to ring this number. I rang them and was told to wait a few more days because if they had to resend the PIN, a new card would have to be sent out. Fortunately at this point I managed to get through to telephone banking to withdraw my money in full. I still haven't received my PIN, but won't be chasing after it as I now have a YBS account run by far more competent people.

I first started to try to get my money out around the 12th January, money in bank account on 30th January.

I've just checked, and the earliest date I have starting the account is 4th December which is when Tesco banked my initial deposit cheque - so that's been 9 weeks!! The final insult is that they have the cheek to use 0845 numbers on their helplines, and I have been charged £10 over my usual mobile phone bill - all because I'm trying to sort out problems and withdraw my money

I have recently opened an Internet Saver account with them and the process has been dreadfully s-l-o-w. It had led to a loss of confidence in their ability to operate a modern banking system and I will be keeping a careful eye on how things progress. Unfortunately, my concerns are increased today when I see that they have dropped their interest rate by 1.1%, even though the B of E base rate only dropped by 0.5%. Anyone know how they can justify this please?
