No, it's worked for me this week.

Still can't actually withdraw any money, obviously, but I don't expect miracles from Tesco.
  • I can see the total amount in the account but do not get any options to manage the account after clicking through. Can anyone withdraw online at the moment?
  • I have gone through the whole process, got my card and card reader etc. Earlier this week I was able to set up payees and withdraw and deposit using Faster Payments, so it was working OK then for me.
  • Card and card reader, why would I need a debit card for a savings account to move money around?

It's not a debit card, merely an additional security measure when setting up and making payments to new payees.

I can't find any information on the Tesco site (without ordering myself a new card/reader), but the details are explained on the RBS site...

But it's not just "new payees", it even includes transferring money out to your primary linked account - which they should set up automatically as part of the account opening process.
  • Thanks for the replies. I have had the account for over a month, but received no card or reader. Looks like a phone call is required.

You need to the card and card reader to set up new payees to allow you to withdraw. Order one online.

yeah i know i was warned but heck what a load of rollocks it is trying to open up this account! thankfully i only sent a cheque for £10 knowing it may take 6 months for me to see it again. tried logging on tonight as i received my registration code today. but wouldnt except my security number etc so ive had to re apply for online banking again which means waiting for another of those stupid letters to sign, send back and wait for another registration code to come and then try again. and no way or ordering a card reader b4 everything else is set up. u can only do it via banking. by the time i get everything sorted the rate will have dropped to the point where i might aswell just stick with who im with now lol the joys of an ex ice saver and dont even get me started on natwest messing my ISA up.
