Thank you TF, I know that if I had not found this forum, I would still be absolutely lost and struggling on for 50/60yrs+ of debt repayments and be extremely depressed. So thanks to everyone who has helped me to get to where I am now which is thankfully a much better place! :T :TBSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0

Good Morning Everyone......
Just to make a change I am at work  and things have quietened off a bit so here is my update.....
I spent about 4 hours filling in my BR forms last night. I had already got all the info together and made some lists of creditors, cards and accounts which made it a lot easier that digging around trying to find bits and pieces.
As I have said before, considering what I owe, there is not a great deal to show for it when I look around me. But my loan (9k) is at 19.9% and the cards are all sub-prime so there is a hell of a lot of interest there.
All I have to do now is fill out my reasons and I am twiddling around doing a rough copy here at work. I will leave that a few days more before I actually put it in black and white online.
It is so strange dealing in cash. I have got a little stash at home for my housekeeping and I hardly spend anything! I remember that when I used to use plastic to pay for things it didn't really feel like real money, and certainly not my own. Now, with real cash I am reluctant to part with any.
For the first time time in my life I might actually save something! :T
I vow never to use credit again, never to have a credit card or take out a loan. If I haven't got cash, then I can't afford it.
One of the best things for me about BR is that the insecurity surrounding my job doesnt seem to matter now - the relief is enormous.
Have a good day everyone......
Here comes the weekend......;)

Hi SA
I don't have a lot to show for it either, just been trying to live.
I took out the last of the money for my current account for the fees today so the most I have left in any bank account now is £1 which the OR is welcome to take if he would like it.
What I am looking forward to about going BR is not actually having to worry about having enough money for food and essentials instead of having to pay it out to creditors whilst making do with the bare minimum and scraping by from payday to payday. And being able to actually start building up some proper savings again for any emergencies that crop up.
Can't wait for the weekend either!BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
Hi Donna,
How was work?
I am exactly the same - I had got to the stage where my minimum repayments were over £600 and my take home pay was £1000 - Go figure.....
I was barely eating, underweight, miserable and a right laugh to be around (NOT!) ..... It is so good to be able to buy proper, fresh food and cook nice meals. I am a much nicer person now .... well, I think so!
I am working all weekend, but the atmosphere is more relaxed, so it's OK!
Got anything planned?

Work was ok thanks, not too busy so that was ok. Even just being able to make sure the freezer is well stocked for a whole month is great! and we are eating better meals too.
I don't think that the problem is that you are not a nice person when you have debt, it is just that the issue of debt runs your whole life and affects your whole view of life so that you can't focus on anything else. It gets you down and depressed which is exactly what I was like and I was so miserable and grumpy with my OH. I am much better now too!
I am working tomorrow but only from 9am til 1pm, I am only a part timer. glad that things are more relaxed at your work now. Haven't really got any plans at all for the weekend.
But the day after my BR we are going to visit some family for a long weekend so that will be me and the OH and the two kids plus the two dogs and luggage etc all bundled into the car. but I will make sure to update you all before we go.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -

That sounds like a lot of organising ...........;)

yes I know, but am getting practised at it now! And I have learned that I must only pack what is absolutely necessary! Both my family and OH's live at virtual opposite ends of the UK so we are going to visit both in January - OH's first, then mine at the end of the month!
We are taking the dogs to OH's family as it is not so far and they have space for the dogs but we have to board them for going to see my family. Have just booked them in and wait for it ........ £250 for 10 days!:shocked::eek::shocked::eek::shocked::eek:
But we don't have too much choice really. Am glad that my OH has some overtime for January which will just about cover it all. Although I am not glad all his overtime will be swallowed up. :sad:BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -

Thats more than I pay for me and the kids

Hi,
Just got home and logged on .... £250 for the kennels!
I am not surprised though - everything costs a fortune these days, doesn't it?
Confession to make - I have just treated myself to a Morphy Richards stainless steel kettle and toaster set in Sainsburys sale reduced from £79.99 to £29.35. Couldn't resist..... a vacuum cleaner, kettle and toaster all in one month. I think it's the most I have spent on myself in years!!
I think I have got my Causes of Bankruptcy spiel sorted - it's a bit "tug of the heartstrings" stuff - let's hope the judge and OR are softies!
