Parking Ticket Appeals article discussion

Hi, can anyone give some advice please?
I received a letter from parkforce for a fine of £135 for parking at university, however i had never received a fine on my car.
I wrote back to parkforce, advising them that i never received an initial fine and they replied saying that on the grounds that i didn't received the fine, they would reduce it to the parking charge of £60. However at uni, it clearly states that the fine is £40 and i wrote back saying this.
They then said the £60 quoted was a clerical error, however i think it is ridiculous that i have to pay this when they have communicated badly to me from the start!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks0 -

Advice: read a few of the hundreds of other posts on this forum. Your case is identical to each and every one of the private parking cases on here.
PS: It's not a fine.0 -

As Sarah says, you can ignore all letters from the private parking company and their debt collectors, it's all hogwash. Search the board for the link to this week's Watchdog where a lawyer confirmed what we already know and made a paper aeroplane out of a private parking ticket. There are very, very few private parking companies who jump through all the hoops to make anything like a legal enforceable contract with a driver. So 99.9% of private tickets are unenforceable in the County Court.
You'll need to start your own thread if you do find you need further advice.
Here's the whole sub-board with lots of interesting new threads for you to read and digest. To start your own on this board, click on 'forum tools' (under the page numbers, top right of the forum thread list on this link) then click 'start a new thread':

If any pressure is put on you about this matter by the Uni themselves, then you'll then need to get more advice. Just in case it's a Uni that tries to call some disciplinary meeting with you about it (has been known, pepipoo.com have helped people in this situation before now). If this happens, then post about this on pepipoo.com, read their FAQS 'READ THIS FIRST' and then register and post here:

HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

There was a letter in the motoring section today's edition of the Sunday Times. Somebody was complaining about a £90 charge for overstaying in a supermarket car-park. The reply seemed to get off to a good start by stating that it was a civil matter, the PPC would have to take the motorist to the civil court, and that many experts are of the opinion that these charges are unenforceable and can be ignored.
Then then go and spoil it by telling the writer of the letter that, because there were "extenuating circumstances", it might be worth their while writing to the supermarket and the PPC to try and get the charge dropped. So, on the one hand they are telling the motorist to ignore the demand, then they play right into the PPC's hands by telling them to engage in correspondence with them.
Of course the only letter that needs to be written is to the supermarket telling them that they will not darken their doorstep again until they get rid of
the PPC, and they will take their trade elsewhere until they do.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Maybe a letter to the same section linking to the youtube vid may help them get a grip with it.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I parked on double yellow that were so faded u could barely see them. I appealed and sent photo. They agreed they were barely visible but said it didnt matter etc. I just cannot believe it.0

Also I have appealed on other occasions because for instace the end t bar was not there . I lost all of them. I will never understand how so many other people seem to win in such cases.0

T bars on their own will not win at adjudication but is useful to add to any other ammo which can, with help, be found.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Photographs of the faded lines would enable us to make a judgement.0
