Glad you've come back to update. I would not expect you to see any more from them but if you do continue as before.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I've had a parking ticket for apparently parking in a permit only bay. There are no signs on the wall or on any street lights. The bay read 'staff permit holders only'. The ticket has been issued by a council. I appealed, and they have said as it is an off road car park (as in not on the highway, but still owned and operated by the council) they are not legally obliged to put signs up as the 'marking in the bay is adequate and clear'. Is this correct?0

Before any answer can be given, start your own post and copy the ticket/pcn, both sides, host on tinypic. Take the url for forums and post them here less the http://. Photo's of the car park and signs would help.

This may seem like a stupid question, but how do I start my own post? I was looking to do that to start with but I'm afraid I am a forum novice. Thanks!0

Hi,
we normally park in our drive but as I was on the way to work I found a leaflet attached to the car saying that they were doing tree cutting works that day and if we didn't move the car which was parked in the drive it would get towed, so I rang my girlfriend who ran downstairs and moved it onto the street, then ran back in to get changed properly and ran back down again to find a ticket on the windscreen for not having a parking permit (which we didn't ever need as we parked in the drive!) is there any formal ground which we can appeal?
many thanks.0 -
More explanation would be of help. Is it a private drive? Who issued the leaflet? Who issued the parking ticket?
Make sure you keep the leaflet and only send a photocopy with any appeal.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
tickett was issued in frome in somerset, the car park in question was abount 4" deep in snow and snow and ice covering all signs, i honestly didnt see it was a pay & display car park and was in a town i am not familiar with does anyone think i have a chance of appeal?0

You still do not say who issued the ticket, was it a council one or one run by a private parking company?
Damn I thought that this was a follow on from previous post. Shows how confusing it gets round here.
Parf can you please start your own thread otherwise there's a fair chance you might not get a correct answer.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
