What scare mongering? My point is that if I was the engineer and had done nothing, the situation would be different. If there are to be any legal procedings in the event of the alleged theft, OP points here may not do their case any good.

One should allow the Police to do their investigation and maybe resolve the issue first.

at what stage has the OP said they are not letting the police do thier job?

Why are Virgin obstructing this then?
There is nothing to say they are. If the alleged theft by the 'engineer' had occurred, then maybe if the said 'engineer' was known to be a little light fingered, there would be more than one complaint about them and any comapany would rid themselves of such.

It makes me smile to see people who think that no one could possibly commit such a theft and that it must be down to some other 'cause'
Where have I said the person has not done it. Perhaps the answer to the first point adds to this

I'm with the householder all the way on this one.
No one is suggesting that sympathy should not be with the OP, but there is due process to be carried out.
  • Looking at this from Virgin's point of view I would imagine they would have a system in place whereby such allegations would be put to the emloyee concerned, and formal notes taken to be recorded on his/her employment file. If this particular engineer had a similar allegation previously recorded he/she would almost certainly be sacked, in which case I would expect Virgin to tell you that "appropriate disciplinary action has been taken" and possibly offer you some sort of good-will gesture like a month's free service or possibly even a new GHD. If there was not previous allegation on file then I guess they'd give him the benefit of the doubt, probably without recompense to OP. In this case OP is out of luck but at least has the satisfaction that he won't be able to get away with this again.

Sad story, but not the end of the world ...

Surely the main issue here is more how virgin have handled it, claiming they have no complaints department, and no senior managers, etc?

    That's just appalling customer service!

My Oh is fairly senior in virgin (not Bristol area though) and I've emailed him the link to this thread, which he says he will flag up to the relevant area manager.

I think they can;t really do anything about giving you money (speaking as me here, nothing to do with virgin) but I'd have thought they could have handled it better, from what you say.

    :)

Thanks, I have started to write a letter to the headoffice and I now have a name of the person to send it too.

Your right I know that the engineer is more than likely to get away with it but at least it's on record now.

My complaint is with virgins customer service which is the reason why i started the thread ito see if anyone could suggest a better way of getting our voice heard.

The first time we phoned it wasn't logged the second time we phoned they just fobbed me of saying there was no one to complain to i asked for a manager - 'there isn't one' i asked for customer service - 'there isn't one' i asked for complaints department - 'there isn't one' police phone up for information and they get the same treatment and then have to phone me up to see if i can get hold ofthe right person.

I recieved a letter to say what they had done and that his mangager was involved.

I have to go out now but I may pm you.

Also thankyou to everyones postive comments and like I've already said at least it was only the straingtners that were taken.
    Kind Regards
    Maz
