Theft by a Virgin Engineer - help

Options
I really need some help

Whilst I realise most are fine please Don't trust virgin engineers.

We had a phone socket fitted at the weekend and whilst there he helped himself to something on the way out. We were in the house! The police have been great but virgin have made a right shambles of things. Calls haven't been logged correctly and have been told things like there is no complaints department, we don't have senior managers, we don't have anywhere to report thefts. GRRRRRRRRR

The police have found them obstructive and have become very frustrated with a few virgin staff.

Now to top it all I've just found out that virgin have formally interviewed the staff member who denies taking the £70 goods. The police didn't want virgin to interview him because he would get rid of the goods once he knew I'd reported the theft.

When I said I wanted to complain about what had happened and how it had been handled I was told that Virgin were not responsible for the actions of their staff members (even though they send them into our homes) and that I could leave virgin if I wanted to and that would be my choice.

I'm so, so angry but not sure what I can do. I now understand what the police officer said which was that people just don't complain to the police because the whole process is hassle as big companies don't care. The police are now waiting for the name of the engineer so that they can run the name through their system but Have told me that virgin are likely to take forever to provide it. The police already had warned me what the engineer would be likely to say which would mean CPS's wouldn't send it to court and guess what he said it in his interview with Virgin.

I just don't see why I should let it rest but really don't know what to do.
Kind Regards
Maz

    Difficult one this.

Virgin are unlikely to offer any compensation as this would be tantamount them admission that one of their staff stole.

As the police are involved, they are very unlikely to move an inch.

Best advice is to take your business away.

I doubt there will be sufficient evidence for the CPS to prosecute.

You need to write a strongly worded letter of complaint and see what their response is.

    It's so unfair.

That all I can do is leave virgin when it means we're the one's to suffer having to change all our email stuff and phone etc on top of him stealing from us
    Kind Regards

    Agree it's abit crap.

But now allegations of a criminal offence have occurred, it changes their stance & the situation completely.

You might want to look into whether your home insurance may cover it.

Though i expect you'll have an excess to pay.

You may also find that theft from the home has to involve forced entry. Check your policy docs carefully before you call so you're fully armed.

A bit of a generalisation really, don't trust Virgin engineers?!!

Don't trust Doctors, they blow up cars outside airports, for example.

But did you actually see him take something? If not, how could he have taken the item(s) whilst you were in the same room?

I agree, my ex is a Virgin engineer. He would do anything for anyone, one of the kindest people I ever met.
