And am I right in thinking that the cheapest baked beans available are now 32p per tin? I'm guessing that's it for the loss leaders and it's going to be down to a game of survival of the fittest from now on. New year's resolution - get financially fit :D

Nyk, have a look in Wilkinson or 99p store as they tend to sell Branston 4 pack of beans for £1/99p respectively. So good value at 25p a tin for a decent brand.

Hello frugallers from a freezing cold but snowless country deep in the Eastern Bloc :D
I am making mince pies for my sister today, complete with homemade crystallised fruit as they don't have such a thing over here.
One of the village neighbours has donated a turkey which he killed and plucked yesterday so it is definitely free range.
5 neighbours are invited to Christmas dinner....none of them speak English so it will be sign language all round.
They don't celebrate Christmas Day here....Christmas Eve is the main event. All the shops will be open as usual tomorrow which will be weird. But as there is only a tiny village shop here, that won't make a difference :D
We are going for a walk shortly. It's very windy but beautiful blue sky. Snow forecast for tomorrow :jand temp of -15.

    Have a great day tomorrow.:xmassign:

Wilkinsons? 99p shop? :rotfl: Thanks for that, I do make the most of the shops whenever I get near any, but that's not very often. To be honest, I'm not really near any kind of shops, the nearest one is about 5 miles from here. :D I have bought beans and spaghetti from a Sem!-Chem store before, though, so thanks for reminding me about that.

I've cooked my turkey, so it's all carved up and 5 spare lots cooled, packaged and ready for the freezer. Tomorrow's will be stuck in the oven with bacon and chipolattas (?sp) and served with gravy made with the saved juices. Stock's ready, just need to make the soup and start the trifle. Loads to do today but computer's always on, so I'll be back in between jobs :D

    HAVE FUN! :santa2: :xmassign: :xmastree:

    Hello fellow frugalites:D
Just to say I'm still lurking very effectively on this thread and pinching tips:D:D Will continue cheering you all on from the side lines...I'm very overthrilled at the prospect of the 2009 challenge even though I'm a fru-fan rather than a fru-can.
This along with the simplifying thread are my most favourite places to be and I do drop in on a daily basis. Will try to be a bit more of a contributor in the New Year although you seem to have all angles covered:D I have been so impressed by the level of support you have given each other and one another.
Just to wish you all a frugaltastic Christmas :rudolf::xmassmile:snow_laug:santa2::xmastree::xmassign::snow_grinand I expect to hear that you've transformed all your Christmas leftovers into delectable feasts for the freezer, saved all the wrapping paper and ribbons, made all your cards into gift tags and have bought all your presents for 2009 by midday on Boxing Day...I shall be back to check on you all and there'll be trouble if instead, you've spent the time sampling all the homemade liqueurs you made during the year:rotfl::rotfl:
