Haha I'm up for chief musician, and great choices ;) I've had a couple of babysitting jobs, which has helped slightly, but I think I'm going to have a break from looking til after the new year now. It should be okay, I hope! xx

In anticipation of starting this challenge I ordered some smart price items from Asda.

Foam Bath, soap, hand soap, shampoo and i have to say I've been really impressed considering the price of these things.

I shall def be buying more!

Menu is: melon and mandarin cocktail, aberdeen angus roast beef, gammon ham, with all the trimmings, very sherry trifle, sponge topped mince pies
And very nice it all was (though I can't vouch for the trifle, as that's one thing I don't eat!)

The singer was great, the company was FAB, and being in a 'new' environment was just what I needed -- so thanks to all for putting up with me :T

Already looking forward to coming again tomorrow :j

Well done, KittieJ! You didn't happen to notice if they did the smart price washing up liquid, did you? I can't find any to stockpile for next year - my local S0merf!elds has stopped loads of their saver items (it's closing soon, C0-0p bought it) I can't wait for the new store to open though, Aldi is building right next door to it! :D

  • Nyk - think asda has stopped the smart price one but they do a own brand one it is 48p for 500mls, lemon, and is quite thick - have had it for kitchen at work and even watered it down a little.:D

I never got on with the cheapest w/up liquids -- found them to be false economy as we either had to use about 3 times as much to a bowl of water, or use slightly more but end up having to change the water more frequently (due to grease build up).

have to admit that these days I only use the 'green' ones anyway, so don't look for the cheapy ones......

CW - Our soft Scottish water lathers up anything, but even if I'd to use 3 x the 14p one, it would still be cheaper that the next cheapest 'variety' and I can't use Fa!ry L!qu!d as it irritates my skin & makes me sneeze. Not sure how they could make the detergents completely eco-friendly, as most seem to come packaged in containers that nobody recycles about here.

Marru - I'll check out the C0-0p next time I'm in town, although ours doesn't tend to stock bargain brands.

And am I right in thinking that the cheapest baked beans available are now 32p per tin? I'm guessing that's it for the loss leaders and it's going to be down to a game of survival of the fittest from now on. New year's resolution - get financially fit :D
