I find towels are one thing you where you get what you pay for....

When I got my first house (1987) I had a cheap bundle. By the time DH and I bought a place together (1991) they didn't have much life left. So when we got married (1992) I put new towels on our list -- though ours were from Debenh@ms.

Given inflation since then, I doubt ours were any cheaper than the ones you're looking at -- but they're still going strong 16 years on, with no sign of needing replacing.

My originals are now on one side for the dogs when they come in from a walk. But they're next to useless when they've had a bath, so I'm going to have to find some reasonably priced ones for them (if I can't find the ones my kids had when they were younger, which had cartoon characters on)
We are still using the ones I bought when me and Dh moved in together 17 years ago, they were originally cream, and then some were dyed pink, and then were dyed black when we moved here, and also some hand towels were dyed navy and some red, to match the decor in the spare cloakroom at the old house, and some were alos originally dyed green.

I also have the white "Christy" baby towels that mum used for myself and my sister 40+ years ago, those still come out as guest towels.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

Well done, Buffy! :j Here's to frunchkin power and frugalisation!

Welcome Nickynoo08, I've now added your name to post 2 so you are 'one of us' and no escaping! :rotfl:

Sophiesmum & CW, have fun meeting up and I hope the 'oldies' enjoy the festivities.

It's getting more and more like Christmas now, and my new log store is all built up and in place, complete with what's left of the logs stacked. :j Neighbour handed in a bottle of wine by way of a thank you for HS walking theire dog when they were away, so I'm now looking for a good film as an excuse to open the bottle and have a relaxing night in front of the [strike]fire[/strike] TV. Is anyone a member of L0vef!lm? Sis sent me a free 3 month trial voucher or there's the cashback route. It's just that when I counted up how much we spend on DVDs when they are on offer plus box sets for gifts, I may be cheaper with a membership. :rotfl: Any advice, reports or recommendations welcome - I live nowhere near a rental place, so no point suggesting that. :o I'll also take a look at Te$c0 and Bl0ckbu$ter to compare.
Nyk, we used to be members, only stopped as things were tight and something had to go.

It was great for the boys as they could pick a dvd for each weekend and it cost next to nothing.

I expect to hear that you've transformed all your Christmas leftovers into delectable feasts for the freezer, saved all the wrapping paper and ribbons, made all your cards into gift tags and have bought all your presents for 2009 by midday on Boxing Day...I shall be back to check on you all and there'll be trouble if instead, you've spent the time sampling all the homemade liqueurs you made during the year:rotfl::rotfl:

Not quite, but my DD will start reception class in September and I bought today cards from woolies closing down sale for her to give to her new school friends next xmas!! :j

Mrsmcawber I want a canner too. I have found a company willing to ship it to the Uk and they would probably ship to Germany too.
    http://www.goodmans.net/get_list_102_4.htm
I asked them a few months ago about shipping costs and they had 2 prices depending on you wanting it insured or not. Insured was a lot dearer.
Also we would have to set aside something for import tax here but they have changed the rules recently and we can have a larger amount cheaper if that makes sense.
It is not cheap but as I see it its an investment. It would not be an ornament in our house because I have already seen the benefits of having ready prepared stuff. And the pan should last a lifetime.
