There are worse things than late booking in appointments... Mine have been spot on time etc - but would have been happily swapped for a nice MW instead :(

    Bloody stupid Doctor!

I went to the Docs on Tuesday morning, for a sick note, some Gaviscon and to tell them that I still feel knackered all the time even though I've been taking iron tablets for a fortnight. It wasn't my usual Doc and to be honest I didn't think much of her one little bit.

Anyway, just had a letter through the post now, from said Doctor, dated Tuesday, and it says.....

    Dear Miss X,

I contacted Mr X's secretary today, after speaking with you about your future fertility. She adbvised me that anyone who has previously had children, whether in their current or a previous relationship, is not eligible for free fertility in the future.

I think it best, therefore, to wait and see about the vasectomy reversal and take it from there. Any future fertility treatment you may need though will have to be funded by yourselves.

I hope this is helpful. I wish you all the best.

    Kind Regards,
    Yours Sincerely

    Dr X

!!!!!!?! Obviously she has me mixed up with someone else, but how bloody careless is that!

I've just tried to ring the Docs, but they're closed for lunch, so I'll ring back again in an hour or so.

I bloody !!!!!! when I read it at first, all that jumped out at me was 'future fertility' and 'vasectomy'!

That's terrible! I thought it was bad when the receptionist failed to send me a letter to say I'd had a slightly abnormal smear and was being referred to the colposcopy dep at the hospital - first I knew was the appointment letter from them to say it was arranged on such and such date. Needless to say I had a HUGE panic attack and was on the verge of a breakdown when I called the doctors to ask why I'd been referred - at least they were extreemly appologetic that my letter hadn't been sent out (they checked and it hadn't been sent - not hadn't been recieved!)

I'd have a ruddy good rant about that and make sure she's not sent anything about you to the other patient!

MrsT - I'll let you share my MW's - they are lovely. :p

HypnoNu - if you are that impatient, I suggest you count your due date as 42wks and not 40wks.......'cos the last bit of waiting is worse than all the rest put together

I'm so tired today - only managed to clean myself and get the washing machine on, so the rest of the housework is having to wait. I'm also starving but can't think what on earth I want to eat - I can't wait to get my brain back - someone please tell me it'll come back.....:rotfl: :rotfl:

do you have to pay for your catalogues?? at the store near me it is 75p on it. i would more than happily pay, but like you say, there are never any staff around (the baby bit even has it's own desk) to pay them.

One I picked up at ours last weekend had 75p on it, so i put it on the belt with what we were buying, when the assistant got to it she said "whats this on here for, is there a voucher in it for something you've bought?" I said no, I just wanted it, and she stuck it in the bag without scanning it or anything.

So although it says 75p, I wonder if they actually do charge for it.

Shell - did the letter have your details on or someone elses?

If it was someone else's - demand to speak to the Practice Manager and tell him/her about your concerns and ask if they are complying with the new legislation around Information Governance that meant all GP practices had to state compliance by October 2008. (If I had to do all the bloody work so should every other !!!!!!!)

If it was in your name - again ask to speak to the Practice Manager - don't be fobbed off with a receptionist (it's our job to sort these things out). Voice your concerns.

Either way, tell them you want it raising as a Significant Event to be discussed at a Practice Meeting to ensure all staff are aware of what happened and the practice can look at ways of making their system so this doesn't happen again.

Sami - thanks hun, guess I'll be dragging OH to IKEA soon, doesn't take much just a promise of a hotdog at the end!!

My £1.50 sub turned into a £4.09 sub!!! Didn't fancy just ham, had extra cheese, a drink and a cookie (had crisps in work). Better not tell OH.

Thanks Pickle - we have the MW's here in work now so I might ask if they know how long from referral to dating scan at the hospital I'm going to.

I think I should count down from 42 weeks as well, although shouldn't wish the time away I guess.

  • Hello everyone!

Just had a PHD student in to pick my brains about the 'progressive and unique' work that I do :D We had a bit of a chat and I was talking away about a bloke who I used to work with who could talk the hind legs off a donkey when the student looked at his watch - I had been talking for 2 1/2 hours :rotfl:

Contemplating a walk into town but my hips and pelvis are sore so think I probably shouldn't...

I have forgotten everything I have read :o
-Shell, give em an earful ;)
-AF - what did I tell you ;)
-McSmiler - are you on that birthing ball??

Hope everyone is well and congrats to the newbies! :D

Off out now to splash my John Lewis vouchers! :T

-AF - what did I tell you ;)

    i know i know :p:p

still, bubs wouldn't play ball and had his shy hat on again (takes after his mum) so was turned around to the back so i couldn't get a picture.

my consultant was very funny though. singing down the corridor. he just reminded me of the men in the film "Cooling Runnings". I expected him to say "Do you want to kiss my egg" (might sound weird but if you have seen the movie, you'll understand)
