wow - a new thread for us pg ladies.

I had my 20 week scan two weeks ago and everything's going well. I'm having another on 23rd December but part of that is that my feto-maternal consultant knows just how anxious I am and understands my need for constant reassurance and it is nice to see the baby regularly.

Bit of a maddening experience this weekend - strange woman came up to me in the shops and laid her hands on MY BUMP:eek:   I didn't even think about it I just slapped her hands away (so hard that my fingers were tingling for AGES afterwards:D). Her husband got a bit too in my face with his 'wot you hitting my wife for' but by then I think she realised just what she'd done and I'm like you wife assaulted me laying her hands on my bump. If folks want to lay their hands on it they have to be prepared to have their hands slapped away:mad:

Anyway I've been making good use of the woolies clearout and bought Evie loads of clothes from there - little summer dresses with matching sunhats that she can wear (and even something for the following year cos it was only 90p). I've managed to contact a plummer so hopefully he'll be round to give me a quote to replace and resite the radiator in what will becom Evie's room. I really do need to decide on the shade of yellow I'm painting her room. So far I can't decide between a pale lemon and a pale primrose but I'll need to paint the wall before the radiator goes onto it!

    Hope everyone's well

Hi Cat :) Don't know if we've 'met' before. Glad your 20 week scan was fine. Did they give you an estimated weight? When is your due date?

ooh just been reminded by the preg's best kept secrets thread, if my baby is breech I will not be opting to have it turned, I'll either try to deliver "normally" or have a section! My friend had her bump turned and said that there was no way on earth she would so it again coz it was hideous, worse than birth

I know two people who had their breech babies turned and both said it hurt like hell, one of them tried to deliver and ended up with an emergency c section anyway and the other one found that a week after having it manipulated it had got itself back into breech position anyway so she had an elective rather than have it turned again.

Hi Cat, I don't recognise your name/avvy but hey ho if you don't post on here everyday like us its easy to be forgotten :D I'm glad everything is going well and  can't believe a stranger touched your bump! I hope no-one touches mine, I got away with it last time, I know my reaction would be to slap them straight across the face so I don't want to end up in trouble with the police or something!

I'm really happy right now coz I've just made Chris a scrambled egg muffin and he kept telling me its "tasty" and "good" :j we've turned a corner he now eats eggs!

To ladies who've had babies before - how easy is travelling with a little one?

OHs contract is up in April, and we've got to work out what to do. He can ask for a renewal, but that will likely mean another trip to Korea at some point. He can go to another company, but that will mean the possibility of trips to Japan and Finland. Or, he can go for a permenant, travel free job.

I don't like him travelling alone, so I assumed I'd just take the baby with us wherever we go. Babies are easy aren't they? Think I'd manage with a baby abroad? OH think it'd be too difficult. Would it? (Trips could either be a few days, or a few weeks.)

If they are under 6mths I'd say it would be easiest but I don't think I personally would take a little 'un to korea. We took Chris skiing in feb this year when he was 13mths and apart from having the heaviest case ever we were ok, (well I got no sleep for the entire week long holiday but that is coz Chris just point blank refuses to sleep anywhere apart from our house or My mum's )
We took a travel kettle to warm bottles and took jars and tray meals for him and cartons of milk plus lots of nappies and wipes and we sterilised bottles in a large food bag with milton liquid.

Mmmmm travelling with babies... Staying in hotels... Long flights?
Finnland I'd not have an issue with personally - Japan & Korea - I just wouldn't be comfortable taking a young child on that long a journey... I'm dreading travelling to Denmark with Bean next year to see the family!! A VERY long flight would be my idea of a nightmare! Cramped space, in my experience small babies scream on flights anyway - i would be ready to throttle it after 10+ hours! Then you have language barriers when you get there. Try asking for medication or getting through to a doctor if there is a problem. Even getting the right milk formula and ensuring the water is clean would give me nightmares...
Travelling in Europe would be on my "maybe list" but Korea and Japan? No sorry... not unless one of you speaks the language and you know you can get the right help and support if you need it... Call me a worry puss! :)
Finnland though could be a great trip with a little one... and you're more likely to find english speakers there too :)

    Hi everyone,

Sheer coincedence but my midwife jusy called. She's coming to see me for my 1st appointment on Friday. She was a bit scary to be honest, I felt like I didn't have much of a choice but to agree to the appointment at that time. I'm glad it's all underway though.

MFD, I said Suzie was lying all along but still haven't been able to explain away the positive test. It was one of those clear blue ones which said pregnant on it aswel.
