I was at a conference a few weeks ago and one of the speakers was talking about growth charts etc... One of the things she said that really stuck with me was 'When else do you aspire to have average children' I have no faith in antenatal measurements and weight guesstimations...
AM, not all health authorities use them, they would of been stuck in at the hospital when you had your scan... Don't know about any online though, sorry.A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Morning ladies!!
Well guess which little boy didn't want to play ball and got all camera shy at his scan last night :rotfl:
Bubba's head was really low down in my pelvis so the sonographer struggled to get the scanner head in position. He then had his hands and arms across his face for the whole time! When she tried to check his bits to make sure he was definitely a boy the little sod crossed his legs so she couldn't see
The sonographer managed to snatch 1 quick piccie for us but no video  we are going back next Tuesday morning to see if he wants to see us then (oh the joys of going private - at no extra cost!). Glad we booked in early enough to manage to fit another appointment in...the manager said that they will usually try 3 or 4 times before they sit us down for a chat about the best way forward.
I did ask her to check if he was going to be a whopper (as people keep telling me) - they don't do measurements as such but she did measure his little tummy and said it was spot on and perfect size for exactly 29 weeks (which is what I was yesterday).
So, the upshot of it all is that we get to go and see bubba again next week and I need to be a little nicer to him in the meantime to see if he will come out of his hidey hole and play with us
I won't post the photo I do have yet but if you want to know what he looks like think Adam and the Ants - Prince Charming :rotfl:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

On the Boots thing last night, hubby managed to make an order too, so we have two x 10 packs of nappies on the way - well, we have twins!
Though asked brother to make an order and it would only let him put one pack max in his basket so he hasn't bothered.
Hopefully they won't run out before they are due for dispatch!Proud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0 -

MFD - thanks for the update
Oh boy bug (prince charming) was playing the shy and embarassed one then not showing off his face and boy bits.
I am glad you get to go in for another chance at the scan though. Fingers crossed he will be ready to play ball then.
As you said, lots of sweet talking to him in the meantime.0 -
MFD and everyone else having a scan soon i was told that if you want baby to move around a lot before scan then drink a bottle of lucozade around 15-20 mins before scan, it seems to have worked with mine and also my sisters and babies were jumping around lol! it was the 3d scan place that told me to do this as they get a lot of sleepy babies esp if you have had quite a drive to get there:D
hope eveyone is well and labour vibes for all in need:DWhat's for you won't go past you0 -
Re the measurements - AF, I have that graph too but the one I am talking about is the one where the MW measures your pubic bone to the top of your bump and plots your growth. It is actually more a measure of you than of baby and we know how different all our bumps are  My MW didn't start measuring my bump til my 24 week appointment.
I just need to start ignoring people! The nature of my job means that I can see between 100 and 200 people a month that know me (and therefore think that they have the right to comment on my size and shape  ) and I whilst I try to ignore them when the 50th person tells you you are huge and are going to have a big baby then you start to believe them, despite all the measurements to the contrary!
Apparently a 75th centile baby will be around 8lb 4oz - which is hardly massive (I was an 8lb 11oz baby!). But all his scan measurements say he is bang on so he could a be 7lb 6oz 'normal' little boy!
Whatever he is, he is coming out somehow  so there is no point in worrying about it!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

I took SB's advice and drank a bottle of cold coke. Part of his problem was that he wouldn't keep still - his arms and legs were all over the place and his head was right down in my pelvis, which is perfect for giving birth but not so good for 4D scans - they need a lot of fluid around to create the image apparently
She did explain why I was weeing so often (but for nothing though) the was he was he was right on my bladder and every time he stretched his arm out he was pressing on it!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
morning - tinkerbelle, don't worry about your scan too much. Do you get two or just the one? I'm in Scotland and only got one and it was at about 16wks, so that sounds similar to you. All NHS areas seem to be different and it just depends on where you are as to what services you are offered - lucky Caz even gets free reflexology when pg and only lives about 30miles from me - yet I don't get offered that!!!!
If you are wanting to check on things before any announcements then I would recommend a private scan. We went at about 10wks and it cost us £80. It really is amazing how it puts your mind at rest.
MFD - naughty little boy bump! but quite clever as you get to see him again soonr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0
