Re the measurements - AF, I have that graph too but the one I am talking about is the one where the MW measures your pubic bone to the top of your bump and plots your growth. It is actually more a measure of you than of baby and we know how different all our bumps are  My MW didn't start measuring my bump til my 24 week appointment.

I just need to start ignoring people! The nature of my job means that I can see between 100 and 200 people a month that know me (and therefore think that they have the right to comment on my size and shape  ) and I whilst I try to ignore them when the 50th person tells you you are huge and are going to have a big baby then you start to believe them, despite all the measurements to the contrary!

Apparently a 75th centile baby will be around 8lb 4oz - which is hardly massive (I was an 8lb 11oz baby!). But all his scan measurements say he is bang on so he could a be 7lb 6oz 'normal' little boy!

Whatever he is, he is coming out somehow  so there is no point in worrying about it!

Tell them as professionally as you can to !!!! OFF!!!!

As long as bubs is comfortable in there, it's no ones business.

Oh, not about the measurement you say about. I know the consultant measured me and wrote something in my notes, that might be what you are saying about???
  • MFD, is this the same BabyBug that was flashing his bits for all to see at the 20w scan?! :D. I'm sure these babies know when they are being 'papped' just like they know its Daddy's hands trying to feel kicks! :p. Sorry about the coke thing!. But its what they told me to do (and to eat a bar of chocy! :D).

Day 39+6 in the SB House and still no signs!!.

Off to see the MW this afternoon to an appointment I didn't think I would have to keep :rotfl:. Ho hum.....

    xx

    Hey ladies!

No baby news from me today, but I do have other news. First up, I found out today that I passed my grade four music theory with a distinction (95 out of 100 marks).

Plus, I got offered the three-month contract job I went for last week. They do know I am PG and are OK with that so now I have a dilemma.

When I went for the interview I came out thinking I didn;t want to work there - I thought the job looked too hard for me, and that the office was dull. But it is my only job offer other than a little pt job for 16 hours a week locally.

The commute will be a pain - the train involves a 15-min walk to the station, a change of trains, and a 20-min walk at the other end, and the car would take ages and cost a tenner a day to park - but it is only for three months and is more money than I was earning before.

But I just don;t know what to do. I stalled them till tomorrow so I can think about it, but I'd appreciate people's thoughts!

    congratulations skintchick :D

Only you can decide on whether to take the job - the up side is that its only for three months. If it were me, I think (esp in the current climate) I'd take it. If it were really awful then you could quit or be signed off on health grounds should any pg complications arise. Plus, in hindsight, working while pg is a great way to take your mind off being pg.....otherwise you end up insane like me :D

you could always put the money aside for a real skintchick only treat at the end of it like a pg spa treatment day or something :D

Hi ladies, Just seen an ad on the bounty site for a 9pack of huggies wipes for £7 offer ends 4th Jan at morrison's- Guess where I'm off to later! especially as asda didn't have any 6pks yesterday

MFD: the measurement your talking about is Fundo-symphysis height its not as accurate as scan measurements in terms of gauging size of baby "the F-S height is measured from the top of the uterus to the top of the pubic bone in cm. further tests may be required if measurements are outside the grey area"

AM: I'll try to scan my page of graphs later but can't promise they'll come out coz they're quite pale

While i looked for an online graph I found this site which is pretty helpful/interesting about all kinds of scans in preg :D

Skinty: could you maybe talk to them and ask if you could go in for a day or two as a little trial (maybe for free?) then if you hate it they haven't lost out by doing all the contracts etc only for you to quit after a week.
If you've signed on for JSA you can claim back the travel and lunch costs for a work trail if you do it for free :j

  • I agree with rmac, take it for now... See how you get on... It's only for a short time and at least you know you're not stuck there because you can't afford not to be... Save all the money up and treat yourself and hubby before baby skintchick makes an appearance...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • SB - even his dad plays hard to get sometimes ;) He did give his bits a wiggle eventually...not that me and hubby could make them out but the sonographer was laughing saying - oh yes - he's definitely a boy :D It was just hilarious that wherever she pointed the scanner he moved it/crossed it/put his hand over it. Like a proper little shy boy.

It did really bring home that we are having a proper little person though :D

And Adam has now made it onto our list of names (which as I predicted is growing again)

Skinty - it's only for 3 months...I would give it a go (but then again I would go mad at home :o )

I don't understand baby measurements. How can this baby be a foot long, but only weigh 1lb 1oz? How much does a baguette weigh? Perhaps he looks like that.

OH sang to the baby last night. He refused to move for a few hours, and I was a bit worried, so OH tried to waking him up. Didn't work, baby sat there completely still until he stopped! Don't think he likes singing.

Are you guys playing any music to your babies? The Thomas The Tank Engine tune still makes me happy. That was my Brothers favourite show when my Mum was pregnant, and its always had an effect on me, after hearing it so much. Me and Brother also like the same music Mum listened to when pregnant. I'm hoping this'll be a country baby too - then four generations can go to concerts together! 8 of us went to a Kris Kristofferson concert last year, we have the same taste!
