Well, I'm looking forward to drugging my baby up on pethidine, at least I get a rest afterwards if he is all sleepy!

Like I say it's a very personal decision, but I'm not a fan of drugs and so I guess my decision follows on from that - I don;t even take headache tablets unless I'm in severe pain.

I don't think any woman would chose pain relief for any reason other than to cope with pain? I don't think any woman choses to drug up thier baby.

SIL had trouble BF'ing her first, because he was so sleepy. I've not had chance to talk to her yet, but she didn't have pethidine with this one, so I'm hoping she has managed to BF, she really wanted to.

Pain relief, I'm hoping I'll manage with paracetamol. :rotfl: Don't really have any alternative!

What kind of eggs did you go for Elle? I'd of had dippy egg... I had one on my bacon sandwich Saturday morning actually....

I'm stuffed full of scouse at the min, not made one in ages and it's one of Aimee's fave dinners too... Enough left for lunch tomorrow too, yummy! Nearly finished decorating the living room... After the hours it took hubby to do 2 walls last night we started a bit early and I've helped him a bit more.... Actually, done all the cutting in and the first coat so really he's just helping me by doing the second coat... Hmmmm....

Scrambled, but more so because OH wanted to know how to make it.. Can't believe at the age of 36 he's never made scrambled egg! Mind you, we compliment each other cos it's one of the few things I can cook :o (used to make it for the dog when she was a puppy!)

What's scouse? Not heard of that before..

No, but it is an unfortunate side-effect of the pain-relief drugs and one I want to avoid. It does have repercussions for the baby and my priority is going to be my baby, not my pain. I'll cope, but I know other women can;t and so they choose to have drugs. That's their choice, but not one personally I can agree with because of what they do to the baby. :)

My hubby can't make omlette... He tried while I was out the other day and ended up with scrambled egg lol... I knew he wouldn't be able to... He wouldn't be able to just leave it sitting in the pan to set...

Scouse is lamb stew but its cooked on the hob for hours until the potatoes go mushy and thicken the gravy... It's a liverpudlian thing... Hence the name...

Hey i've never posted here before so a big HI from me :D

30 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 :o scary hehe, i'm planning a HB too figured after the first birth id rather be at home, i had a quick labor only thing that scares me is the thought of another epesiotomy... mind the spelling :s lol

I really pushed for the fact i wanted to go home asap after DD1 was born and was told that would be fine. Had her at 6pm and was told i couldn't go home that night as it was too late grrr. And by the time the midwife got round to discharging us the next day it was 5:30pm... sitting in hospitals is never fun.

The only thought that puts me off a HB is the fact that family may just appear straight after babys born or something :o Only live literally 2 mins from the hospital so that bit doesnt really worry me :D

You really don't know whether you'll cope or not until the time comes Skinty.

There are thousands of women who don't want pain relief, but when it boils down to it, they have it because they just can't cope.

feelie i had to laugh at your comment! OH thought it was funny too!!
i was given diamorphine with my 1st after me saying i didnt want it and i hated the feeling it made me very ill and i was extremly upset that OH and MW had made the decision to give me it without my consent. i have made it clear in my notes and to OH that it has never to happen again and that my decision is the final say. 2nd i had no pain relief and last 2 gas and air.

ok bit of rambling coming up as my fingers type before i can think! i am having HB as i hate being in the hosp with MW waking me and baby ordering me to feed and checking up on me every 5 mins. also the fact that the MW seemed to be more interested in everything else when i was asking for gas and air and telling her baby was coming. baby arrived 40 mins from me entering hosp! also i dont think hosp would be impressed at 4 kids trailing onto the ward to meet their baby sister:D i want to be at home relaxed able to get a drink and be comfortable and happy. then when it is all over i can jump in the bath and head for my own bed where i can cuddle up to OH and sleep.

yes there may be problems, but i put all my trust in the medical staff and know that their judgement is what will save us at the end of the day. i am hoping for a quick labour like the last time but if need be i will go to the hosp and have baby under the understanding that i want to be at home asap.
