Have not been allowed into the kitchen for the last 2 hours as DH and DD are baking me a birthday cake for tomorrow !! And am struggling now as it smells lovely and chocolately !!!!:j:j Can't wait for tomorrow now !!
Anyone else on baby 2 or more that had a section previously?
I am feeling a strange stretching feeling around my section scar that is getting really uncomfortable !!! Not sore or anything, just uncomfortable !!!!
AM I NORMAL???? lol
Quite normal I expect. I'm on #2 and had a section 1st time, due in July. I'm getting quite a lot of itching around my scar, which I presume is it stretching. It's odd because I don't have much feeling in the few inches surrounding it, I can feel hot or cold, but not light pressure or pin pricks. So feeling the itching is weird  I'm just moisturising like hell and hoping.
Have you seen the consultant yet? I have an appt in 2 weeks but won't be opting for aother c-section unless I can possibly help it right at the end. Ideally I'd like a home birth, but OH and midwife nearly fell off their chairs :rotfl: Apparently you don't get left alone much if you're on the labour ward as they want to check your scar every 2 hours or so. Am waiting to hear this direct from the consultant, but friend's mum is a midwife (my midwife with DD) and she said to expect it.
Can't they just leave me alone to get on with it? Honestly, you'd think my first birth was a right palaver. Oh yes, it was. Nevermind. I'll just have to let go of the control freak in me for those few hours/days.
Visited a friend and her new baby this week. First one and her total labour - according to her notes - was 2hrs 41 mins :T . I'll have some of what she was having. She did it all on gas & air and a TENS machine (which I recommended.)MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -

Just to open a whole new can of worms my DD has just phoned. Her friend is pregnant, about 14 weeks or so and they work for the same boss. She has been told this week that despite the fact that she has worked there for 2 years she is not fully entitled to all normal pregnancy benefits as she has no written contract. I've just looked this up and simply by accepting the job verbally and starting work she has an unwritten contract and he has broken the law by not given them written terms within 2 months of starting. The same applies to my daughter and OH who have worked for him for 6 years+. She is being told when to leave for her mat leave as the boss doesn't want a heavily pregnant waitress, told to rearrange hours for appointments, no risk assessments have been done and she is still carrying heavy loads. And she was given some paperwork stating that if she doesn't return to work for at least 12 weeks fulltime after the baby arrives she will have to pay back her mat pay. What the hell is he playing at!!!
Just to add I think she's quite young and he's being a bully, gonna be rolling up my sleeves and wading in I think!
Tarajayne - sounds awful. Here's the gov't site with all the relevant info on http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Moneyandworkentitlements/workandfamilies/index.htm

Hi all, back from friends now. It's about 40 mins away and the journey really brought on travel sickness. Had a spell of it on the 30 min journey to OH's parents on Thursday too
lisabell, I had a scan when I thought I was 7wks and they said I was 5+3. They found the heartbeat on mine but said that was very unusual and probably down to the fact I was a size six with no fat at all on the area they were scanning through. When I had my next scan, I thought I was 12+2 and they said I was 11+1 so I'd gained two days from the first scan.
I got pregnant on the first cycle of trying, but I remember feeling a sharp pain in my side on about CD19 (of 28) which I suspected might have been ovulation. I was going to chart my temps the following month had I not fallen pregnant that month just to see if I did in fact ovulate later than on the textbook CD14, but I never got the chance (not that I'm complaining!). Will have to wait a while to check that theory out now!0 -
Have saw my consultant 2 weeks ago, but as I had a colposcopy and LLETS (sp) done in June, I have been told that I have not healed enough down there to allow me to have a normal labour, they didnt think I would be able to conceive as they removed quite alot, so am happy to go for the section aslong as I get my baby !!! :T:T
Have told hubby that after this one I want to go again as soon as possible incase the pre-cancerous cells come back (or worse - but we will not think about that)
At least this one won't be an emergency c section after 13 HOURS or really hard labour and 3 blood transfusions due to hospital !!!! up !!!!The two best things I have done with my life

Skinty, we had the blood tests at 16 weeks... They don't do nuchal fold here... I was the same as you though, didn't really want to bother but hubby wanted them for the same reason as your hubby, just to be prepared.... No idea what our level of risk was though, just got a letter saying 'you're low risk, you don't need to do anything'... And Elle, as far as I know you only get your iron done at booking in and 28 weeks (someone else care to correct me? lol)
FG, really hope you're feeling better soon, a couple of us have had falls so we know how worrying it is!
I'm just waiting for hubby to cook the tea lol... It's a little late but my Mum came and fetched Aimee this afternoon for a sleep over so we had a bit of a fry up at 3... Then played the simpsons on the xbox for a while, then went and de-crapped some of the bedroom ready for decorating... By the time we finished it was 10 and we were both hungry... Oh well... Late night and a lie in tomorrow, can't wait!!!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Yes, that's the one. Oh well, must just be the different things in different parts of of the country thing again! I was told mine was at 15-16 weeks but then again I had blood tests at my booking in at 8wks and none at 12wks, just the scan and a chat with the consultant. My midwife told me to phone her after the scan, once I'd got a date, and book myself in for the Downs test between 15-16wks. Am 15wks next Sunday so it's the following Wednesday.
nuchal fold scan at 12wk scan and then triple test at 16ish weeks
as I understand it the triple has to be done around 16wks to be accurate but I could have made that up! :rotfl:0 -

and they can only make you pay back ur mat pay if they have topped up your smp and that would need to be stipulated in her non-existent contract!
Good luck with fighting that guy, he sound like a real piece of work!0 -
Well I'm all caught up but got nothing interesting to say
Chris had a fab party and we've got his friend's party 2mo!
Chris was so tired that he fell asleep at my mum's so he's staying over night there with my mum, dad, sister and sis's OH. See you all 2mo xx0 -
Definitelyone for the professionals!! I'm pretty sure tho that it is the law that an employer should supply the employee with a written contract within 7 days of starting work for them (thats 7 actual days not working days) - but this may not apply to cash in hand types like waitresses

Directgov website says that they should be given terms of employment within 2 months and they are not paid cash in hand. They are paid weekly by cheque with payslips and Tax+NI is deducted by boss. He gives them holiday but only stat sick pay. They have all asked why they have never been offered pension rights as it's a hotel and he employs an awful lot of people. My DD said in all the years she has worked for him it's the 1st time she has known of anyone being pregnant.Too many children, too little time!!!0
