Elle, if you have an epidural you'll need iv fluids (as it can make your blood pressure drop and fluids keep it up). I had the canular (sp?) in for two days in the end (they gave me IV antibiotics for a fever in labour) and although it was uncomfortable I could still use my hand. Putting it in during labour as well I hardly noticed. I was already pretty vague by that time (hooray for hormones) so I watched them do it! I'm not scared of needles but I can't usually watch without coming over all un-necessary!

breastfeeding: This site is an absolute godsend, it really has pretty everything a bfing mum needs to know! I go to a bfing group at my local surestart centre too :-)

I'm not overly fond of needles either, but I can tolerate it for the most part. When I was in hospital this summer due to acute diverticulitis and abdominal infection, they had me on TPN (IV nutrition) as I couldn't eat or drink anything - so I had 3 IVs in for almost the whole time I was in hospital. And when one blew out (so my hand swelled like a balloon) it took them NINE tries to get another one in!! After 7 tries, I refused to allow that nurse to make any more attempts.

My stupid back tooth has broken in half!!! It's wide open, half the tooth is gone and everything's exposed. I called the after hours number and spoke to the triage nurse and was told "it's not urgent, take painkillers, and call to get in to your dentist tomorrow." She mentioned something about a temporary filling kit at Boots, but I looked at it - it uses a temporary cement stuff - and there's nothing to fix it to! Half the tooth is gone, the other half is partially filled and the filling is not stable now - and the interior of the tooth is all exposed. Arrrrrrggghhh!!!!!

Triggles there should be an emergency dentist centre surely? I know ours is all the way in Oxford but at least you can go and have emergency stuff done - DH had to have some work done last spring and they were working on him at 9 in the evening I think!!! I think we found them through NHS direct - worth a call!

They're supposed to call me back if they haven't filled up with "more urgent" patients by 11am. So I guess I will have to wait until 11. But she was so condescending about it when she said it wasn't urgent, that I don't have very high hopes. If they haven't called back by 11:15 I think I will ring NHS direct and ask for an emergency dentist centre.

Triggles I'd call them now to be honest... and me personally would send a letter of complaint to the surgery with the poor receptionist... explain that you have an exposed nerve which is excruciatingly painful, you're pregnant and being told that you were "not urgent" was not only unprofessional, the way it was said was down right rude and belittling. Like you would ordinarily bother them on a sunday if it wasn't an emergency and you weren't in extreem pain!

    But that's just me ;)

that's just it - the pain is tolerable at the moment - but who knows for how long - there's no way I'm going to eat or drink anything like this!! which means the morning sickness is gonna be horrendous today. I called the NHS direct and there is one other place, so I will call them and see what they say.

Well, that shoots that. I called the number that the NHS direct gave me - it's for the same one that told me it wasn't urgent!!! So basically I am going to have to deal with it today and just not eat or drink. And then call and try to get in to the dentist first thing tomorrow morning.

wow what a lot to catch up on!!

Wedding we married at a local castle, we were driving past one day when we both said we had never been in and ended up coming out having booked a wedding:confused: we decided if we married there reception would have to be a bit lower key. luckily MIL & FIL paid for the castle my parents paid for the reception, best man paid for amazing old fashioned cars, mum made all the invites and favours(love hearts with 'just married' in beautiful boxes and miniture bottles of jonny walker) i bought my dress which was around £700:eek: bridesmaids and flower girls were from a sale and all the other bits and pieces were soon added up! it was a fantastic day and night:rotfl: and i dont think i would change any part of it!!

needles:eek:   this is my worst fear, its all over my notes needle phobia and i get in a panic about them. it was the dentist that gave me the fear and i get in an awful state when they come near me. being rehsus neg doesnt help however i have only ever had the anti-d after birth as i looked into it and spoke to the doctor and there was nothing to prove that it made a difference having it during pregnancy.

Elle luckily i havent had the sick thing, well def not in the way that you do and i dont think i would manage if if did. in early pregnancy i couldnt go near a chip shop as i would be sick but apart from that i would be fine. i am struggling more and more now with SPD and tiredness. however i dont do myself any favours and that doesnt help??

sorry for the long post lol just catching up on yest! well i am having a bad day already? got lots done yest and am feeling the effects today. Me and OH are just having bad few days and i am at the confused not knowing what to do stage. just feeling like he doesnt care im running about trying to get this place organised and he is more interested in running after his friends:mad: i was up and down all night between spd and pins and needles in my arms. he got up, ready and just went out so now im hobbling about and trying to get on with everything. sorry for the rant just needed to tell someone???

Caz, would it make any difference if you just stopped doing everything - would that get his attention and kick him into doing stuff around the house for you? If I leave our house messy enough, OH eventually tidies up for me ;)

I'm finding using the laptop is making me queasy from the scrolling. Certainly can't play Tetris anymore! :(

I had my scan last week and I had to pay £8 for 2 pictures! My husband couldn't believe it because when we got pictures of our first son all you had to do was make a donation.
