Sorry, only just saw this and your other msg last night about the scan pic...too busy talking about croissants :D

I haven't got a scanner at the moment, but am hopefully getting a 3-in-1 printer/scanner in the next week or so, so will be able to upload one then.

Right, off to read the zillion other pages that have appeared since last night :D

  • Oh my - busy weekend, so I've not had time to keep up with you lot. DH's family Christmas gathering today. I got to have 2 bits of xmas pud, one for me, one for baby!

I wouldn't worry about birth plans until you've been to anti-natal classes MFD - no way you can know what you want without being informed - you have time to read up as well, so you have more idea what you want :)

I've not written anything in my notes yet, but I have my tens machine at the ready, I want to have a water birth if I can, and I'll have gas and air if I need it. If I can manage I will leave it at that, and not have any more painkillers than that, but I've no idea what I'm letting myself in for ;)

DH wants to cut the cord. Oh and they have some single rooms, which you have to pay a bit for, but if I need to stay in overnight then I want to stay in one of them. Not very MSE, but I'm rubbish at sleeping anywhere other than my own bed. And I don't want to stay in any longer than I have to - I'd much rather go straight home! (I've been warned that might not be possible though, due to SPD, might need to stay in until I can walk again if my hips go wonky!)

  • Ladybird - the MW wants to discuss my birthplan on New Years Eve (my next appointment) but my antenatal classes don't start until 13 Jan... I guess I can change my mind once I have been to the classes

I thought it was a bit backwards but I will be 31 weeks and 33 weeks which is roughly what it should be...

Keely - are you lurking - was it the same for you?

It's very quiet on here this evening...

    Boo! did I scare you?
been busy this aft :) went round to mummy & daddy's where christopher managed to walk into the wall! silly thing was too busy watching the tv instead of watching where he was going, he literally bounced off it :rotfl: no it wasn't funny Sami! :o

MFD: I had a look at some sample birth plans last time, think I got them off babycentre  my only worry is that this time my mum prob won't be at the birth coz she'll be at home with Chris and Hubby is only useful as something to squeeze during a contraction. Oh and Tens machine I found to be rubbish, it just annoyed me I ripped it off and lobbed it across the room at some point - good job it didn't break coz it was hired!

My birth plan basically says I want as little intervention as ness, b/f asap, baby born on to my stomach, MW to announce the gender, baby is having vit K injection, and haven't decided about cutting cord yet - I might do it but not sure. Also need to talk to my sis about her being at birth, she wanted to last time and would prob have been if he wasn't "early" I don't mind her being there but I'm not sure if its a good thing to witness a birth if you've not done it yourself
Feelie (I think you've been at a birth haven't you?) or anyone else have a feeling/opinion on it?
I don't want to scare her although she is a physio so has witnessed some gory things and played with cadavers

    eekk...birth plans...

i am normally extremely organised when it comes to work etc, but i dont have too many 'must have/dos' in my mind for when my time arives to write mine.

i would prefer to not have an epidural, but if i have to for the sake of bubs or it's absolutely neccessary for me, then i will.

i know if i put too many restrictions on myself and dont keep to them (for what ever reason) i will feel that i have failed.

my thng at the moment is tearing and stitches. i have read a few ladies say that stitching can hurt more than the birth. i was reading the purple NHS book tonight which said that it shouldn't hurt as they should give a an anesthetic. are they spinning a line and the reality is that you are stitched without any injection?????
  • AF - tearing and stitches is terrifying me too. One of the things that I want to discuss with the MW is whether it is easier to stitch after an episiotomy (or whatever they are called) - basically is it better to be cut (although that relies on them catching you in time and before it is definite that you will tear).

I have also been reading about bubba staying on your chest whilst you are stitched - I reckon having your baby there may make it much easier.

Don't worry AF on most sections of mine I've just put "to be discussed at the time" or "only if necessary" I think its a bit wrong to call it a plan coz its not something you can really plan for.
As far as I know you only have a local for stitches if they are deep tears
I didn't have an injection for my stitches, yes they were painful but I think it was mainly because they took me by surprise, MW told me to have a go on the gas again and then it was just a bit uncomfortable :A
