Feelie - I don't think they start touching your bump til 24 weeks (I have only had 2 'feelings' so far). Last week the MW said she thought he was head down...but I am pretty convinced my placenta is up front too (probably contributing to how big I look) and she asked me if I felt like he was breach (how the hell would I bl00dy know!!)

The 4d scan is mine and hubbys christmas present to each other :D
Is it really bad to say I am a little bit scared that he will be an ugly baby? :o

Ooo - lucky you caz - an indian!!
:rotfl: me and my friend where preg at the same time both said we don't care what happens we just didn't want an ugly baby!

Jvic - sorry, I should be more sensitive :o
Don't be silly, I didn't mean it like that. To be honest, in the long run, it's probably a good thing that I don't run up more debt. I don't want to bring up our child in debt like I have been for the past few years. New start all round.

p.s. very jelous of your 4d scan. I hope you'll be able to share the pictures with us.

It's is one of the first things I said when I went to see my friends baby - oh god, that's a relief, she's not even remotely ugly' :rotfl:

She is one on my best friends and she knew exactly where I was coming from...she said there is only mine to worry about now

Edit: I will probably share the pics...as long as you all promise not to mention the U word!!!

Sami - it sounds like for tax purposes the test period covers 66 weeks prior to due date - which is roughly the beginning of May. I ended my prior job at mid-end of May 2008, so possibly 3 wks employed there, then no employment again until 1 Nov when I started doing the Usborne - I certainly am not making £4k per year - but when you say NI contributions is that for that time period?? If so, it says £117 per month or 90% of earnings whichever is less. Now due to illness (ok admittedly and lack of doing very much work recently), my income is really nothing. So - do they use my income for that time or am I allowed to pick a week to base it on? I seem to recall reading somewhere that I can pick my time period to base it on - in which case I would use the weeks in May 2008! LOL Does that make sense?

ETA - okay I've read further and as long as I don't do the small earnings thing and pay the £2.30 per week I should get the full amount, even if I don't make very much. If I've read that right. So hopefully that will be okay.

Jvic - sorry that finances keep you from taking the full maternity leave off - is there any way you can do a staggered return to work - a few women at my old job came back 20hrs/wk for a month, then 30 hrs/wk for a month, then full time again. Kind of allowed them to build up to it gradually but still get some income coming in.

I am soooo envious of those getting scans. I can't wait until mid January when we can get the nuchal scan. I know we could get one now if we wanted but I'm a bit nervous of doing one now. I just want it to be 13 wks and everything to be fine so I can relax just a little bit.

Just reading your posts about movement, MFD we are not far apart are we? I get a sort of rumbling/shaking movement...it is very strange, have you had this?? I am at the midwife next week so will ask her what she thinks, although she will probably just dismiss it as ok.

Forgot to say earlier - remember I was having an issue with my work trousers, and the day my manager was back, we had two big cheeses from head office come in to look at this new 'amazin, exclusive' product we are starting to sell...Well anyway, apparantly our area manager turned up a few days later he had a complaint that one staff member was not in correct uniform!!! I mean !!!!!! why didn't they just ask me themselves why I was not wearing the stinking green pants?? I am fuming about it, I hope the Area Manager comes again whilst I am there next time, I will tell him exactly why I am not in them and will also tell him where he can shove them too, if he does try to make me wear them I will refuse and just let him try to make me. They are a health and safety issue as they dig into the lower part of my belly, so I will make a big song and dance about it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I didn't mean to rant I am just relly annoyed about it all, and to be told all this whilst we were out on the staff do 'enjoying ourselves' was a bit insensitive imo.

i dont blame you for being annoyed i think i would be too! well you are making an effort by wearing something suitable with the top and as the trousers are uncomfortable i wouldnt wear them either, its bad enough being pregnant never mind having horrible trousers lol!!

well i am bathed and dressed at last just need to do my hair, TBH i could just lie on the seatee and fall asleep
What's for you won't go past you
  • Mel - god these people make you angry don't they - if your bosses had a complaint then they should have dealt with it without you knowing about it...especially when they have spoken to you about the trousers in the first place. They have absolutely no right in passing on the gripes of their bosses to you... To be honest I am just glad that you are strong enough to be pee'd off and want to speak up for yourself - there are lots of women who would be upset and intimidated.

I am more mad with your immediate managers though - it is their job to act as a buffer for you and to tell you about it when you are out celebrating is not on.

Anyway - back to babies!! No rumbling here other than my stomach!!

Off for a lie down and to catch up on last weeks heroes.
    Take care all

  • Just wanted to let you guys know what I got at Woolies today, on the whole though bit disappointing, lots of big, really big 50% off signs but then on every shelf only 10,20 or 30% off signs.

Felt it was maybe a bit early (18wks tomo) but seemed good buys: - cute pair of neutral brown & white socks for 40p, 7 short sleeve white vests for £4.20, 3 long sleeve neutral patterned sleepsuits £4.90, a macca pacca long sleeve day all in one, £2.40 and a five piece set(hat, mits, bib, vest and babygro) £4

First time I wore mat jeans today but im still not quite big enough yet. No definate movements but i cannot wait, my next scan seems ages away too, roll on new years eve!!!
