Speaking of which, what ARE the current ideas on food/drink during labour? Years ago, it was ice chips or nothing. When I had DS2, they were pushing me to eat something (a sandwich or light dinner of some sort) saying I would need the energy. I know years ago it was the big concern about aspirating during surgery under a general if there was an emergency. What have you been told?
Last time i was told snacks like cereal bars are fine, they don't want you taking perishables (how often to u get to use that word!) like sandwiches as its soo warm and u could be in labour a while they don't want you getting ill from eating a manky sandwich :rotfl:
My friend munched on mini vimto bars with her last one in sept

sorry to have started off the McDs thing. am just finishing my chips, and thankfully all is LOVELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

quite chilly out still with snow all over the place. i'm absolutely terrified of falling over. not the pain, just people seeing me do it.

thanks for the posts re the bags. i am going to make notes.

sami - thanks for the scan info and pics. i'm not sure what you meant about the 'soft markers'. as i'm about 10 weeks in front of you, i am a bit late in finding out what soft markers are aren't i?
soft markers are signs of problems like downs syndrome, you should have been given a leaflet about them with a form to sign wth your choices to hand in at the scan (well thats what they do here!) they aren't that accurate as a means of diagnosis and not massively accurate, I just say all i want to know is that everything is there that should be ie. 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 kidneys, 1 heart etc..
    proper info here:

I've just had a bowl of oxtail soup and a pack of pickled onion monster munch! Yum!

we were given a leaflet to read before we went in to the scan explaining that what the scan is checking for. we didn't have sign anything (another example of different Trusts no doubt).

thanks for the link, going to have a read of it.

oh if ur hosp has patient line tv's then take ur own headphones if ur a germphobic like me!
I didn't need change for phone as I used my mob, I think most hosps let u use mobs now but u should check 1st also signal is poo at ours so you have to stand nxt to an open window to make a call :rotfl:

i was thinking along the same lines as you re the amount to take. i am thinking of an oversized tshirt maybe for labour. is that not a good idea i wonder?

sorry, you can keep the soup (to be honest, never tasted it but i know my MIL and BIL like it) but the monster much is yum :D

Thanks Sami, will add a tub of vaseline to my shopping list. I remember reading about it making cleaning up bubs easier.
