oh if ur hosp has patient line tv's then take ur own headphones if ur a germphobic like me!
I didn't need change for phone as I used my mob, I think most hosps let u use mobs now but u should check 1st also signal is poo at ours so you have to stand nxt to an open window to make a call :rotfl:

not sure about the tv, but think you can use mobiles at our hopsital as my friend had her baby there last year and she text me to say she had given birth.
  • Vague post alert -

I have just bought a drink from poundstretcher that has 75% of a normal persons allowance of folic acid in it - might be good if anyone is struggling to take the tablets. It was the raspberry and blueberry one of these:

Best of all - it was only 29p for a 500ml bottle and it tastes good!

Will def be getting my colleague to pop in and buy some more for me when she takes the post later :D

    Hope this helps someone!

I am very curious to know what you mean by angle of the dangle?

hehe yeah that was me MFD!! just as well you asked cause im planning on getting things done this weekend:D

usually after birth i got showered and changed but when i was feeding i bled heavily and even if i moved the wrong way i was soaked through, everyone however is different but i would rather have too many than not enough:D

for labour our hosp isnt too keen on eating in the labour ward just in case something goes wrong but they let you drink lots! but as im at home i might get a few bits and bobs in.

AM where in Scotland are you going???

  • I've just put hair-bands in my bag too, as that will REALLY drive me mad if I don't have any to hand! And I've got lucozade and cup-a-soups, so even if they won't let me eat any food, hopefuly I can sip those instead. (I have a chocolate brownie in my handbag too!)

I've got 5 pairs of undies (cheap pack I bought from asda, so I can bin them straight away if I want to!), 1 horrible nighty for birth if I need it (I'm hoping to be in the birth pool if it's free), and 1 set of pjs for afterwards. Plus 4 changes of clothes for baby. I figure if I'm in for a while I can send home for a top-up :)

Oh, if you're not allowed mobiles in the maternity ward, then you'll want a list of phone numbers too you can send DH off to call whoever are the on the list. At ours we can take mobiles in, so I'm going to just hand him the phone and tell him to go call people, then do a mass text to friends when I can be bothered.... then put phone on silent & out of sight so I don't get overwhelemd by replies!

think if your BF then take extra as when you feed the uterus contracts and thats what makes you bleed heavier, or it did in my case. i was forever washing nighties in the sink but i do have greedy babies lol!

I packed one bag for labour/first night overnight, then a second bag with "extra supplies" for if I had to stay longer than 24 hours. We left the second bag at home, with the understanding that if I had to stay longer, DH could just bring it in and take the dirty/no longer needed stuff home in the labour bag. Worked great - as I got to leave 12 hours after birth. We'll probably do this again this time.
