I can beat that AM we want to call bump Edgar if its a boy - we've loved it since before we actually ttc'd but 1/2 our friend n fam hate it (wish I'd kept it secret maybe they'd be more polite if the bubs was actually here) My sis has actually point blank refused to ever call it Edgar she says she'll use it's middle name if we do!

My Grandad hated my Brothers name, so called him Colin instead!

I wouldnt say it was odd, it's different and different can't be a bad thing. and anyway what to me is odd to you might be fantastic and visa versa, I could of slapped my cousin the other week for screwing her face up at my baby's name, even if i hated a name i'd never let on, i think it's rude.
But I do prefer Toby, think it;s a sweet name.

I've got two girls names - both old fashioned and one i've not seen/heard being used in the last 70 years :rotfl:
First one i really love, but OH doesn't and MIL insisted I can't call her 'that'! When I mentioned it to my Nan, she said all the ***** she knew were tarts!
Second one i like and OH loves, its growing on my mum but again MIL hates it and nan hates it (although if she knew any, she didn't mention they were tarts!).

I wouldn't dream of being so honest if someone told me what they intended to call their child. Its personal choice.

(feelie - we had a Corgi called Toby when I was little - but he was really cute :rotfl:)

The top 100 names for 2008 was in The Mirror earlier this week - i've cut it out and told MIL that any suggestions she has mustn't appear in the list!! Most of the ones she's had up to now have been in the top 10 - and they're all girly a sweet iykwim!

feelie i like tobin but toby is also nice:D have you thought about bigger names and shortening them? we have Abigail and we call her Abi, have thought about doing this again but baby still remains nameless lol! Abi has decided that she wants to call her goldielocks but mummy doesnt think that would be a good idea!! krystal i do like Aimee spelt like that hmmm maybe another for the list but aimee and abi are quite similar?

slscarborough could you not get them to start taking him for maybe a hour every few days or just having parents around so that he is use to them?? we are lucky as OH mum and dad take kids for us and we know they are on standby 24/7. they have had a few 3am phonecalls to take kids lol!

3onitsway the list is possibly not the "real" one If its the same as the snipit I saw on yahoo news its the result of a survey that bounty did and not the official gov list. I've posted the link on the thread before but all searches I do now come up with the blooming bounty one coz its on all the news sites!
My sister had 2 friends fall out because one kept her choice secret and the other told. the one who kept it secret gave birth and it turned out it was the same girls name Martha the other one now won't talk to her even though it turned out she had a boy so couldn't use it anyway

I'm going for 2d as I don't want to see what bubs actually looks like until its here but as its the same machine used for both they can still get a clear image, the 2d ones are less than £100 I've been quoted £90 and £95 and the 3d/4d at the places I've looked at were starting from £150 upto £200 HTH

Sami-bee - I think it might have came from bounty! I'll google for the official gov. one now - make sure my name isn't on it.

Cazscoob - apparently in my nans day, all the tarts were called Edie (no offence to any Edies - Nans opinion, not mine!!) I'm only allowed to tell you that one because OH has ruled it out - but it really was my favorite.

The other one is a secret until she's here (or we decide not to use it).

But, saying that, when DD was born (2000), i had the name and kept it secret, and hadn't heard of any others. When she started school there were 6 in her year (out of 2 classes of children!). And its been up in and around the top three since 2001. I think she's at no.2 this year. So much for not being common!!

Thanks Sami, I was veering toward 2d also as just want to see whole baby moving and get better idea of sex rather than close up of faces or anything.

The sonographer we had we had was VERY thorough though, checked and measured everything it seemed but just didnt do a whole view until the end. Would love to just see whole baby moving around.

I think both our names are probably on the list... But the boys one is slightly less common today, it's a family members name so means something to us... (and hopefully them) and the girls name is Caitlin which we both think is pretty... And the only girls name we could agree on lol...

Hubby still won't entertain Emmanuel, despite Aimee singing two songs with it in at the carol concert...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
