AF I know one major point about the swinging crib for me was the fact it could swing... but you can get stands for the moses basket that can be rocked which is what I plan to get :) it has to stand next to my side of the bed where there isn't much room but enough for it to rock gently thankfully :) I just like the portability of it... especially for early on :)

AF, if you're going for a pushchair with a carrycot option then that can just as easily be used as a moses basket, I used to with DD... And because I had no cats or other children I just used to pop it on the floor next to the sofa lol

Moses baskets can be used for as long as baby fits/is happy in it... Some people use them for months... Mine lasted about 10 weeks... and a friend of mine had a baby that would never settle in a basket but went like a light the first night she popped him in a cot... My ideal is having the baby close enough so it feels like it's co-sleeping and is settled but far enough away that I won't roll over onto it...

I used to be a ridiculously heavy sleeper (4 alarm clocks and my Dad would still ring me up to check I was awake for work!) but once Aimee was in bed with me I was always completely aware she was there, even now she only has to cry out and I'm halfway across the bedroom before my eyes open....

Tine, the crib I'm borrowing my aunt had for my cousin, she had to lock it into place though because every time it moved my cousin used to jump and wake up!

Tara if it's number 6 then you're probably a lot more aware of how it feels and can pinpoint it better... A lot of the movements I felt were baby rolling over but now it's kicking (or punching) a lot more definitely...

Tine, while I think about it... When's your 20 week scan? I don't get mine until 22 weeks, it seems an age away!

I had been looking at the larger style pushchairs that came with a carry cot, but have been changing my mind as i found them quite difficult to move about.

I do like the rocking stand with the moses basket as i like the rocking motion which is why i have thought about the rocking crib also.

must say i never thought about the baby not settling in a moses basket. gee how naive am i  :rotfl:

  • Krystal, can i quiz you on a breastfeeding related issue?

Last time my milk never came in and although I really tried to breastfeed i had to give up because she just wasn't getting anything. All these posts from people who are not as far on as me about leaky boobs are starting to freak me out, i have nothing going on there, my boob are the same size as normal and there is defnitely no signs of leakage or even of anything happening. Is there anything I can do to encourage things?

hmmmm....i am waiting for letter from the hospital re appt for my glucose test. i am 28 weeks now and the MW thought it might have arrived in time so i could have had my 28 week bloods (which i had done today) at the same time.

does anyone know how late they can test for this? Just wonder if i need to phone the MW to let her know i haven't heard anything. I was there when she wrote the referral
