Still, at the end of the day MSE is not some sort of public service and the mods have every right to dumb it down if they want. It will be to the disadvantage of many of the readers though who will miss out on a lot of info about what is happening and more importantly, why .. and maybe get one step ahead of the crowd who get their news from the tabloids and tv.

I didn't think anything could get me agreeing wholeheartedly with !!!!!!? but this has.

There was plenty of healthy argument, and ok, sometimes a little bit of sniping, but in general you could agree or disagree but at the very least you could learn something.

I suspect many users will just drift off or lose a bit of interest. I watched this board because like it or not house prices have driven the economy up for the last 10 years & will have a big part in driving it down.

Just a quick look at the discussion time board makes me realise that what would have been good threads will just get lost amongst Acupuncture, Shannon Mathews and a thrilling tale of someone getting stuck on a level crossing.

It would appear that you were the one originating the unsolicited and argumentative messages. In such circumstances, adding far stronger abuse to your recipe is hardly likely to convince independent observers of your victim status

I'm afraid that I simply do not agree with the ongoing personal attacks on, and undermining of, divadee over this issue. And, underneath all of the camouflaging verbiage, that's what you are doing.

Nonsense. I have no personal issue with Divadee, indeed until today I had never even heard of her. I'm not interested in personally attacking anyone for moving a thread.

Just because you and other posters disagree with divadee's actions, her inerpretation of the threads in question, or anything else, that does not necessarily mean that she is the wrong person to be moderating the board. Nor does it necessarily mean that she was wrong.

If Divadee moved a thread discussing BTL because she did not think it relevant to house prices then she was wrong. It was relevant, it was a mistake to move the thread.

Someone that doesn't know this is obviously unsuitable for a position where such judgments need to me made. It would be like me moderating a forum on cars and not knowing that cars have wheels.

It certainly does not justify the public ridicule and humilaition she has been subjected to here; nor does it justify this campaign to have her removed as board guide.

Campaign? :) LOL, that's a bit strong. As for humiliation, again, you're being a little silly here. At no point did I humiliate her. If she feels humiliated then that's more of a reflection on her than on me.

The part I have highlighted in your post is, IMO, prejudging any decision made by those in charge of MSE. You believe that divadee was wrong. Others agree with you. Others believe she was right.

There really is no discussion to be had. this isn't a matter of opinion, it's fact. BTL is totally relevant to house prices. A topic on house price crashes is completely relevant. Divadee made a mistake. You need to deal with it, she needs to accept it and MSE needs to act.

MSE bosses will take their own view. That decision may prove to be different from your view that divadee was wrong.

If it is different then I'd be very surprised and question the role that MSE has to play in running a website offering advice on financial issues. If MSE cannot see that, for example, unemployment news is critical to judging house prices then there's a biog problem. Forget about all the other advice offered on these boards, making sure people make the right decision when making the largest purchase of their lives is critical. Not connecting economic issues with house price falls is negligent.

Looking at the people that visit this particular board, many are totally unaware exactly what affects rises and falls. They have no idea that car purchases are a good indicator to available credit. They have their eyes opened and in fact knowing many of these external issues is crucial in making the right decision.

If unemployment rises, GDP/GDI falls, the commodities markets dive and car sales are bombing then this is information someone making a purchasing decision on a house HAS to know. There's no if or buts.

I'm FSA regulated. If you came to my organisation and wanted advice on your £200m I would make sure you knew EVERYTHING that was relevant. It would be my duty. When someone visits the house price forum I want to be able to discuss every relevant issues because otherwise my advice is worth nothing.

Try it. Here's an example. I come to the house price forum and ask:

"I'm a FTB, 6% deposit, have a young family. Work in motoring. Should I buy now"

Now try and answer that without referring to Clarkson's views, unemployment, VAT reductions, the German recession. Of course all those factors are relevant. If they're relevant in that thread then they are relevant to the house price forum. Anyone that says otherwise really shouldn’t be offering advice.

What Divadee has done is to effectively limit our scope for offering advice and enabling people to make the nest decision possible. If we're told that these interconnecting issues aren't relevant to discussion on house prices then the MSE forum is not doing it's job. Which means MSE personnel aren't doing their jobs. So getting back to the point, there's no doubt in my mind that the MSE bosses have no choice but to back those of us criticising Divadee's actions.

And just to note, we're not criticising Divadee per se but the decision she has made. I’m sure she's tough enough to accept that.

423,000 forum members. Is there ANY board guide who can please them all?

BUT the decision to move all those threads please NO-ONE.

It ONLY served to upset dozens of people and didnt really do ANY good whatsoever.

All it did was land a load of financial / economic threads in places where they had even less affinity.

Oh and just to reiterate and highlight a point, many of us are not interested in making sure the board stays as it is for some crazy obsession, we genuinely like to offer the best advice. When discussing house prices the best advice MUST include discussions about the wider economy as I said in my post above. Those who think we're being silly need to take that into account.

What kind of paranoid, insecure, IQ of a goat, desperate for something to be offended about childish halfwit resorts to personal insults because a thread has been moved?

Oops, answered my own question there. Sorry.

And what sort of arrogant, self-righteous, holier-than-thou, smug halfwit would post something like you did?

People care about such things! If you don't then butt out.

If you did something that upsets dozens of people you might just get called the odd name too.

    eaxctly.

I didnt realise MSE had so many trolls intil they infected this thread. The topic in hand has NOTHING to do with them so maybe their posts should be moved / deleted to...

Which sub-boards do they normally reside on?
