I didn't think anything could get me agreeing wholeheartedly with !!!!!!? but this has.

There was plenty of healthy argument, and ok, sometimes a little bit of sniping, but in general you could agree or disagree but at the very least you could learn something.

I suspect many users will just drift off or lose a bit of interest. I watched this board because like it or not house prices have driven the economy up for the last 10 years & will have a big part in driving it down.

Just a quick look at the discussion time board makes me realise that what would have been good threads will just get lost amongst Acupuncture, Shannon Mathews and a thrilling tale of someone getting stuck on a level crossing.

You forgot 'dinner lady attacked my daughter' sounds like a headine from the Sunday Sport.

... Just because you and other posters disagree with divadee's actions, her inerpretation of the threads in question, or anything else, that does not necessarily mean that she is the wrong person to be moderating the board. Nor does it necessarily mean that she was wrong. It certainly does not justify the public ridicule and humilaition she has been subjected to here; nor does it justify this campaign to have her removed as board guide.
Quite simply, there is no campaign. I and perhaps others have stated an opinion that she does not understand what the board is about and therefore for that particular board she is actually not qualified. But I would add to that, even if she did not fully understand how the board worked, she could have taken soundings and consulted. Instead we wake up to see half the live discussions ripped out. Now, do I state what I think openly, so divadee can see, or do I go behind her back and whinge to the mods in secret? I can assure you that I have only written openly.
If this thread is anything to go by, the 'atmosphere' has been caused by the reactions to divadee moving the threads. How difficult would it have been for posters to simply state that they disagreed with the threads being moved, and ask for it the decision be reconsidered?
gingin did request reconsideration and divadee came back with a response which I characterised as jobsworth and narrowly obsessive. At no time was reconsideration offered
Incisor has used the phrase 'you're here to serve, not to rule', with reference to the BGs, several times. It has not been challenged by anyone who is arguing against the removal of the threads.

It does make me wonder if there's not just a little bit of transference going on here - who is it that really wants to rule? And I fnd it shocking that anyone should believe that fellow members of MSE are here to 'serve' and to jump to the peremptory instructions of other board members (even if that might put them in conflict with MSE management).
I have clarified elsewhere that serving is not to be confused with subservience. A Doctor or Solicitor or Dentist will definitely serve, but they are not subservient. I am not talking about doing as they are told, I am talking about delivering a service of facilitating discussion. divadee was not doing this, she was destroying discussion, whether intended or unintentionally.

I didnt realise MSE had so many trolls intil they infected this thread. The topic in hand has NOTHING to do with them so maybe their posts should be moved / deleted to...

Which sub-boards do they normally reside on?

I have thanked you twice, don't push it.

Think I will stop posting for a while.....tried posting in the moneysaving arms and eeeekkk it is scary in there! I have been called ignorant because someone didn't care to read my post correctly, I have never been called ignorant in my life!

I have also been called insulting today (or at least insulting someones intelligence) again because time was not taken to read the post properly or just assumed a different meaning as they were not used to my off the wall postings.

Moderators usually do a good job and it is a thankless task but one important part of being part of a moderating team (titled as such or not, moving threads IS moderation), is being able to admit when something has been done to the detriment to that posting community and that a mistake may have been made....and with politeness. I have personally not received politeness although I have tried to be polite and understanding in my replies.

Both of these issues has sure taken the fun and interest of this site away from me...I feel like I have been thrown to a pack of wolves.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I'm having a bad day....... :rotfl:

Think it must be worry about my cat going to the vets tomorrow, my exam results and how to afford blooming christmas!

Or maybe I have more in common with my children than I thought, I just feel very unsettled at having to post in a very unfamiliar part of the site amongst people I don't know. I have to learn all new personality traits and posting styles....eeekk it makes me uncomfortable and unsettled.

I will be back and feisty tomorrow you can be sure of that! :D

    i have jobsworths
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

I've read that thread SingleSue, and to be fair I noticed a misunderstanding of your posts - I don't think you've come out badly at all in the thread. In the Arms it's like anywhere else on this or most other fora - there will always be those who misunderstand. Some realise and say sorry, some don't. Horses for courses as always.

You will find that contentious topics will bring the best and worst in many users, but by and large the Arms is a good place to just chat away idly and chill out.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I know I will soon have something in common with ex hubby....I am getting repetitive strain in my finger (ok his is his wrist) from constantly scrolling up and down the blooming site chasing the threads around! :rotfl:
