Whilst I appreciate in part with you diva, if it's alright to differ with you in that they could all blend into house prices tidily. People take various related factors and issues into consideration before buying or selling house or any property and even to follow the global trend - those who have the luxury, I'm guessing look at economics from a global perspective and philosophize before taking the plunge - you only need to look at the number of people who followed those threads before it was binned :D onto DT.

regulars on that part of the board bring up issues they feel need exploring and as much as I think you're a great BG diva, I can understand people who stick with your part of the board feeling let down

Make no mistake, I'm sure you must be right but I felt compelled to understand the OPs and supporters perspective. Also only this morning I wandered into DT and wondered my 101 gods where did all this come from - some of our blessed topics where we dtrs were pretending high and mighty :D were all buried

my minding business for the day done :p

But meher, that can be said for any sort of expenditure. DT covers all sorts of topics that are not IMMEDIATELY related to money, so as to keep the money boards free of endless discussion and speculation that are more in keeping with the DT ethos, particularly as it's so easy to go off topic in these cases.

After all, every expenditure we make has dozens of considerations that can be made and discussed and explored, including the grocery shopping. Imagine each board retaining all discussions in it just because they are vaguely related to the board topic.

    Excellently done!

I like to pop in to house prices sometimes as well as dt - I like variety in my life.:D

My thoughts are that you may be right and the threads have been moved unnecessarily. However, to be rude, arrogant and downright ignorant to a volunteer board guide, on a forum which you do not pay to join, nor have to contribute to financially in any way is reprehensible in the extreme. To then make snide attacks on the owner of the site is disgusting - you really are despicable when you cannot get your own way instantly aren't you? I suggest you all need to go and pick up your rattles and dummies and take a nap.

It would have sufficed to have a poll to ask for the threads to be moved back POLITELY! It would have sufficed to have done as was suggested and report to abuse POLITELY and await the outcome. Had the outcome then not been to your liking you MIGHT have had some cause for your spitefulness, but then you could vote by not coming to MSE.

Some of you REALLY need to get over yourselves: there are equally (or even more) intelligent people discussing things in DT, just there are a variety of subjects. In my opinion the problem here has been caused more by a bunch of posters who appear to think that they "own" the site, and are more important than they really are to its' existence. :D

Several of you owe the BG an apology - I doubt any of you are big enough to go away, cool down and offer that apology: publicly.

Actually one of its function IS to be a bin. Every forum on the net has to have a general area where:

    1) People can start threads on matters unrelated to the specialised boards

    2) Treads started on specialised boards that have little pertinence to those boards OR have gone OT, can be moved in there.

Otherwise chaos would reign supreme and there would be far more disgruntled users.

True that there is no need for rudeness. That goes for the 'board guides' also - some have been very rude in making replies to questions. The reason this sort of outcry has not been made before is that the 'board guides' have not unilaterally shifted stuff around to such an extent and for such spurious reasons. They made the choice to do so and they should expect to be challenged on that. Getting defensive and making rude and sarcastic posts aimed at board members is out of order.

Pot meet kettle. Don't be so rude.

Because quietly accepting what a business choses to do is what MSE is all about isn't it?

    More rudeness.

Also, we are CONSUMERS of this site. This site generates a lot of money for Martin. It is therefore a successful business and if a large proportion of the customers are not happy then the owner needs to take a look at that.

Again you are exceptionally rude. Being charitable I'd say you got a bit over-excited and expressed something you regret. I expect you will be apologising for that now, yes?

This is all getting very silly. Its obvious that Divadee is the wrong person to be moderating a forum on house prices when she does not understand that, for example, BTL issues are inextricably linked to short term house price rises and falls and decides that a topic discussing BTL belongs in another forum.

This is such a wonderful place and it's a shame that the atmosphere has turned all because a moderator, through no fault of her own, has misread the situation, not understood the issues and has then acted in good will.

What really ought to happen now is for someone to make a decision, accept that Divadee was wrong and offer clear guidance as to what issues are relevant and acceptable.

Let's wait for whoever it is that makes these decisions to come into the office tomorrow and clear this mess up.

As a suggestion from me, there are a number of very knowledgeable people in the house prices forum who would make excellent moderators. Perhaps someone like 'Pastures New' (just an example) would be a good choice. I think that having people who know about the issues pertaining to a board would make good mods. I for example would be hopeless in the bankrupcy section as I have no idea in the slightest about it. At the same time I'd be much more likely to be effective in a forum on banking, FSA, regulations, derivates and risk management.

The house price forum has been such a good forum for a long time, it does strike me as a little silly to go in and tear the place apart because one thinks a couple of topics are off topic. Crazy really.

Anyway, let's hope that a decision is made tomorrow and we end up with a happy house price forum again.
