diva, I understand what you are saying, but the board will be a shell of its former self and I for one will miss it.

Also there really is nowhere else to discuss the wider economy, as someone else said, the arms is more like, "The Suns" discussion time.

There was always a big 'anti house price falls discussion' faction on MSE.

When the first threads started to appear in numbers on the parent 'House buying renting and selling' board there was an outcry from a very vocal faction who succeeded in getting all threads discussing prices coralled into a single thread.

It was only when it became clear that there was a massive demand for discussion (and when prices very very obviously falling) that a sub-board was created where people could discuss freely.

Sentiment was very much "you can't lose buying a house" back in Jul/Aug 07 when the whole fuss about posting about price falls started. MSEers who took the advice on board back then and either didn't buy or decided to sell and wait a bit are very much better off today than they would if they just went along with the flock.

Still, at the end of the day MSE is not some sort of public service and the mods have every right to dumb it down if they want. It will be to the disadvantage of many of the readers though who will miss out on a lot of info about what is happening and more importantly, why .. and maybe get one step ahead of the crowd who get their news from the tabloids and tv.

I'm not sure if , from the tone of your post, you think you are addressing a moderator  BG's are not moderators, moderators are paid employees who deal with the emails that go to abuse either direct or by just clicking on the red triangle on nay post.

A BG will not see any complaints made to abuse and will not have a say in how the mod team deal with those complaints.

Yes, I was under the impression that Divadee was a moderator on account of moving all those threads, thanks for the info.

I do find it amazing though that some of the most outrageous personal remarks and sleights have been ignored (even after being reported to abuse) whereas suddenly there's a mass cull of threads because they are 'off topic'.

You can't discuss house prices and what they are doing, where they are going, without referencing what is going on in the wider economy, well not unless you are a tabloid newspaper or trashy TV programme.

Funny you should say that. I'm just now reading The Fermi Solution, about how Enrico Fermi approached major problems by breaking them down into smaller ones. Dunno if it would work in here though. :D
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I find this thread quite abusive tothe board guides. They have been given their guide lines and they stick to them. Not always an easy job I'm sure but without them we would have more conflict and an untidy site.

With many threads once the initial question has been answered it moves to discussion and to the wider public. Personally I can't see a problem with this and can't understand you over protectiveness of particular threads.

As for picking on Divadee is ungentlemanly and uncalled for!

What kind of paranoid, insecure, IQ of a goat, desperate for something to be offended about childish halfwit resorts to personal insults because a thread has been moved?

Oops, answered my own question there. Sorry.
