theres no issue , anything off topic (in our opinion) is moved to discussion as it states, you beg to differ with that opinion

it's a policy matter for the forum team , I don't set forum policy and neither do any of the BG's.
Either it is policy or it is Board Guides' opinion. If the posts were moved on board guides' opinion, then the response shows that the opinion was wrong and you should reverse it.

Only if the posts were removed on grounds of policy, does it need to go to the mods for reconsideration of policy.

And elect another?

and it is the policy to move off topic threads

If you post a topic that does not relate to the board it’s posted on it will be moved to a more relevant MoneySaving board or to Discussion Time/The MoneySavers Arms.

We could have more fun if this was moved to 'The Arms'. :D

At least in Discussion Time we have to be more sensible.

There isn't a house price discussion area!
There is a house price board where questions can be asked about house prices.

The site has one discussion area where all points are discussed that are not money saving.
Once a thread moves away from the money aspect it becomes an open discussion it moves over. This is the way it has always been.

I can't honestly why you are all so defensive. This is nothing new
.

If it is nothing new why is it causing mayhem? :p

But it is the opinion that it is off topic which is being challenged, not the policy.

When so many people are up in arms about it, plainly the opinion is wrong. The option now for this site is to say as a matter of policy, it does not want these discussions. Because mixing them up with "OMG MY DOGZ HAVING KITTENS INNIT" threads is actually achieving a policy objective of disabling the sub community which has the discussions under the guise of 'opinion'

So far 41 people disagree with you :rotfl:
Someone please kick the record player out of its stuck groove

There are thousands of members of this forum reading threads without necessarily responding on each of them.

You don't get to vote how the forum is run (the numbers you mention don't constitute a plebiscite anyway), and the petulant attacks on the volunteers who help to do so are sounding more and more like an few-year old kid bawling because mum won't be bullied into buying that new toy

No to me, but I don't like to see the likes of Divedee get talked to in the way she did.

again, the only people who can make that decision are the abuse team

If you have a question about actions a Board Guide has taken first read these Forum Rules, which explain why most of the actions are taken. If you’ve read the Board Guide note and the Site Rules and you’re still unsure why a particular action has been taken please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

If you ever feel a Board Guide has said/done something that needs to be reported please report it as you would any other site user’s post/pm to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

FORUM TEAM

The forum team is here to deal with illegal/abusive/offensive posts that are reported to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com either directly or by clicking on the report an abuse icon in each post. If you report a post/thread please remember the following:
1) Please be patient. Some issues reported require discussion with other members of the MSE team before action can be taken. In some cases this can take several days. Repeatedly emailing and asking what’s been done causes the team additional work and only serves to delay action.

4) Neither the Board Guides, Forum Team or MSE Team (again not even Martin!) are on the site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Night-owls reading the site at 3am on a Saturday morning should not expect a response before Monday. If you do get one before then, consider it a bonus!

You are here to serve us, not to rule us.

That is just so offensive, this is a private forum, not a democracy.

and here's what Martin had to say about the general discussion board for those who think they have a "right" to discuss what they want, where they want (from here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=115890)

To summarise

We do the best we can on limited resources
Things are deleted because the resources arent focussed on these boards
Explanations arent given to protect the site and to stop reoccurence of the same issues
I hope these boards are fun, i hope you enjoy them, if you don't and find the way they are run difficult, then i would ask you not to read or post in them anymore.
