The thing is, is that the majority of the regular board posters have spoken and have said they do not agree with the move.

If we were happy with the way things were and by default, the majority were, then I cannot see why it has to be changed to account for the minority.

I started reading this board because of the threads dealing with not just house prices but also other factors which could have an impact on them. I found the board interesting and very factual...now it is boring with little content.

The thing is, it's fair enough to disagree, we all have our own opinions. BUT divadee is just carrying out a role. There was no reason for people to have a go and DEMAND IMMEDIATE ACTION COMPARING EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES TO HITLER OR SOVIET RUSSIA.

This thread now moved to site feedback board where it's appropriate.

Well, they certainly are not here to rule.

I said: It is for the site owner to tell me to sling my hook, so if you feel inclined to tell me my place, remember your own. I think the ignore button is useful, however.
It was in response to you telling me to log out. Which make this from you rather funny:

So moving stuff back was not respect? You mean there is no respect here?

Given this latest from you, your house is made of at least as much glass as that of anyone you feel inclined to throw stones at.

The latest from me? I've postest 3 times commenting on the rude post you made to divadee. I felt it was inappropriate and I have let site know.

Go outside mate. Get some air, it's only a message board!

And your role in this? To say "Talk about mob mentality." To which I said:
"You calling the howls of protest 'mob mentality' is a bit like Hitler accusing the Russians of mob mentality for defending Leningrad."

So, just to be very clear, you were not compared to Hitler, because as far as I am aware, Hitler never accused the Russians defending Leningrad of acting with 'mob mentality'. But if he had actually said that, he would have been talking out of where the sun does not shine. That is the comparison I was drawing.

I have been the only one to mention Hitler on this thread and that was in regards to what people thought of MY moderating team on a completely different forum in our old style days....it was not directed at any of the moderating team on THIS site.

Edit - Oooppsss so has Incisor! :o

Also the majority disagreed with the action of a minority.

Oh and now we have been moved elsewhere! I am going to have so much fun tracking down the relevant threads I have been involved in....not! How on earth do I find this board from the main directory? I'm still trying to find OS and moneysaving arms without links :rotfl:

Agreed, there has to be a cut off point in terms of deviation from the board name and when posters reduce to slanging matches with each other, that point seems to have been reached - with the option to delete the thread rather than move it I should have thought.

However, the House Prices board is enjoyable and well used as it has evolved. It has nothing in common with a general, all topic, discussion board and the issues chewed over will be lost.

Although it has diversified, isn't a flexible approach to be tolerated as it's become such a favourite meeting place to discuss all things related to house prices and the economic forces surrounding them?

Seems to me that something is afoot here, beyond posting guidelines. It is clearly heavy handed, if not draconian. Maybe a Near Year gong could be a possibility, or perhaps even an gov't advisory post?

Given the number of Clown/Brown posts, it would seem that we have almost been ethnically cleansed. I might even be forced onto GHPC/HPC.

I have read complaints on other boards about anti-govt threads being deleted, there was a suggestion that people cruise the popular boards and report certain threads. I had always put it down to paranoia:eek:

Hence my comments about 'narrowly obsessive' and 'jobsworth'. I am open to being told that the site owner wanted this specific action to be carried out [and I don't meansome face saving formulation, whereby Martin retrospectively endorses divadee's actions], but somehow I doubt it happened like that.

What we actually have is a horrible mistake, where divadee has taken an action which is disagreed with by over 90% in a poll - and where divadee has taken an action which cuts right across the purpose of a board she does not participate in to any significant extent. And divadee is not sufficiently involved to understand the working of that particular board, and therefore, according to the guidelines, not actually qualified to operate as a board guide.

Well from enjoying my trawling of the boards, today I have found I don't enjoy it at all anymore.

Everything is all over the place, there is no continuance, threads which we have enjoyed have been moved to places where they really don't belong (I have finally found the moneysavers arms...don't like it there at all, some of the people are eek) and I now have to explain myself all over again to complete strangers where before, people knew pretty much what I was on about as they knew my history.

Nope, I don't like it at all.

Edit - Arrrggghhhhhh! I either now have to have loads of windows open to read the stuff i previously did or just not bother....right now, I am not going to bother, it is rather peeing me off.

Blimey, I'd never read the board in question, and I'm amazed at the amount of personal abuse being dished up by some of its denizens.

The paranoia about some form of pro-government censorship in operation would be hysterically funny, were it not also a sad indication of detachment from reality.

Some of you need to tone down your obsessive compulsive attention to house prices, or if you can't at least behave a bit less manically on here
