Hi Everyone
Just been looking through this thread and it makes for interesting viewing!
A couple of months ago, my car was being repaired so I hired a car for a couple of weeks. Upon returning the car to the hirers they said 'oh you've received a parking fine' and showed me the letter stating where I had been parked etc. I had parked in a supermarket car park and the limit was one and a half hours. I was late back by about 15 minutes. Because the 'fine' had gone to the owner of the vehicle (the hirer) I paid it as the hire company would have debited my card anyway as their T & Cs state that I was liable etc etc.
If I had seen this thread before now, I would have told them to just send my name and address to the parking enforcement company and then I could have happily ignored all of their threats :rotfl:0 -
hi
i recived a parking fine from uk parking control for parking in a b&q car park the initial fine was 90£ dropping to 50£ if paid within two weeks .

You could if you wish claim the payment back from the hire company as I suspect that if you read the T&C closely you will not have infringed them.0 -
Hi all,
After some advice please.
I have recieved a parking fine from Britannia and now looking at this thread unsure whether to pay.
Bascially, i received the fine from parking outside my local shopping retail park. This area used to be free but they now introduced britannia parking, in that it is free for 1/2 hour if you get a free 1/2 ticket from the machine or if your staying longer purchase a longer ticket.
I completely forgot to get the ticket and as soon as i remembered ran back to the car which was 35 mins later! To be then faced with a ticket of £60. Obviously no excuses should have got the ticket but being preocuppied with my 2 year old didnt help, but think £60 is a very high price to pay for an extra 5 mins.
To top it off the car i was using at the time of my ticket was my dad's, so I dont want him to get nasty letters!
Having seen this thread would be grateful for your help and whether Britannia are just as bad as the scams you see on watchdog.0 -

Its a scam, don't pay them a single penny, if it says 'Parking Charge Notice' on it its a fake PCN, the ticket will be unenforceable and they will not take you to court or issue you a ccj or any of that garbage they spout, best course of action is to IGNORE!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Also basically your dad will get the nasty letters, but tell him to ignore them and don't pay them, if he's on the net tell him to come hereExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?

Unfortunately not.
They'll give up before long. It's just a mail scam.0 -
Iv had the same problem, parking ticket, then debt collectors letters, now soliciters pay within seven days or court procedings will start!!,so will it? if so i want to fight it will i get the chance?
There is no fight needed, just ignore them as other posts on this thread have said.
For a pictorial preview of the letters the company will send do look at our sticky thread at the top of the board here:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
Then read other sticky thread and info and as many current threads about private parking co's (PPCs) as it takes until you understand that this is just a scam, including the so-called Solicitors' letters. Is it Graham White by any chance? If so then that letter has come from Roxburghe, the debt collector - they just use GW headed notepaper to frighten and intimidate people.
They never take anyone to court, not ever. Relax and ignore this con just as you would ignore a series of phishing emails telling you that you've won the Nigerian Lottery.
If you read the threads I have linked above you'll also find a link to a Watchdog programme earlier this year which had a legal expert tell viewers to make a paper aeroplane out of any private parking tickets. Enough to reassure you completely I hope?
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
