  • Hi peeps, thought I'd tell you the story so far on a charge notice I got.

A bit of background info. Didcot Sainsburys car park is free for the first two hours - go to machine and push button for a ticket. If you want to stay longer you have to pay.
I usually shop there at weekends and usually get a machine's ticket before entering the store. The local cinema is within walking distance - if we are going to see a film I pay for the longer ticket time.

A while ago - 20/08/10, I parked up and went into the store to shop without going to the machine - free for the first two hours, why bother wasting the machines paper tickets? Only planned on being 20 mins.

Came out to find PCN on windscreen from Senator security services (working for the Orchard centre) £50, dropped to £25 if paid within 14 days. Searched for this company on this website but could not find anyone with previous experiences.

Reason for PCN? "Failed to display a valid pay and display ticket"

I'm going to ignore everything as I should. Free parking for the first two hours.
Still waiting to laugh at any further letters from them - guess they'll try to find the registered keeper next. :) Taking their time. :D

Had to reassure the other half about all the "may" be taken to court mumbo jumbo.

  • i have just got a £50 parking ticket at a lidl supermarket,i parked for apprx 40 minutes then went home, i returned to the same supermarket apprx 2 hours later for 30 minutes.
when i returned to the car i had been issued with the ticket,i approached the attendant and explained that i had not parked over the permitted parking time and explained that this was my second visit and i had only parked for the above times on each visit.
he said they had a no return policy , and i had returned within that time,i told him i did not know of this policy.
the time on my ticket show that he clocked me at 1013am and issued the ticket at 1209pm .which assumes that i was in the car park for just under 2 hours.this is not correct as i had left and then returned. i have sent a letter to appeal should i ignore any correspondence if they do not except :(

I can tell you now that your appeal will be rejected. That whole process is a sham as the company itself carries out the "appeals" process and, of course they will turn it down. So, as you said, ignore the company from now on and do not contact them again.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • I recieved a parking ticket yesterday and am looking for advice on how to treat it.

I know the vast majority on here say just ignore it but I'm worried that this advice may not be correct and I'll end up in court.

I have a shop in a shopping centre which has a car park regulated by a private company (Central ticketing). The car park is free for a maximum of 4 hours, however, most staff in the centre have a permit which allows them to park in a designated area (a fair distance away), which is where I park everyday, for as long as they like.

Yesterday I had something heavy to drop off at my shop and since I wasn't technically working I thought I would just park in a normal space near to the entrance to make it a little easier to carry my load in. On returning to my vehicle a mere 10 minutes later, I noticed a ticket on my windscreen which had the offence labelled as 'abused patron parking'.

I have since found out that I must park in the designated area at all times regardless of if I'm working or not. I have never recieved any rules and regulations for use of the parking area so how I was supposed to know this I'm, not sure.

    I'ts absurd at best!

Are the laws concerning these tickets and the legality of them different in Scotland?

Any advice on this matter would be appreciated because I don't have a spare £85 at the moment!

Ignore is the only advice you need.
  • Thanks Lucy.

In this case i guess ignorance is bliss :)
  • Have Graham White solicitors changed their phone number? It's now 01932 332049 (another new number to add to my barred list)

Also notice that the final demand letter is worded differently to the ones scanned on this site.

I take it the same 'ignore' rule applies and no new loophole in the law allowing companies such as this to be successful in enforcing people to pay their 'fines'?

I don't have a scanner unfortunately but I could type up the letter if this would be helpful

    regards

    bb

That number is just another one of Roxburghe's. No matter how they word the letter, it's still rubbish.
There are no new "loopholes", just carry on ignoring.
