Private Parking Tickets discussion

Hi
I hope someone can give me advice on next steps to take, so thank you in advance.
I received a private parking charge in Winter Gardens car park in Morecambe from a company called Predator Security UK Ltd on the 5th Sep 2010
I was alone with my 3 year old grandchild, I could not leave her alone in car, so and had to take her out of the car, put her in her pram to go about 100yds to the machine to purchase a pay and display ticket.
When I returned to my car there was a parking charge on my windscreen stating I had parked with no valid ticket, I managed to find the attendant who put it on my car about 800 yds away by this time and said I was at the ticket machine buying a ticket, he was unco-operative and shouted I could appeal. The ticket stated I had parked at 15:09 (written in blue ink) and my printed ticket from machine stated 15:14.
I wrote a three page letter enclosing photographic evidence of the distance of the ticket machine from my car, and they have written back yesterday 24th Sep, on plain A4 paper, with a small picture of a black cat on the left hand side, stating that I have to pay the fine! as I failed to dispaly a ticket on windscreen. (How could I if I was on my way to get the bloody ticket!!) (this was before reading these posts about no contact with these companies!
There was no reply to my main question of how was I supposed to have a ticket if I was on my way to machine to buy one!
I am aware now from the posts on here that I should have ignored this ticket, but this is the first time this has happened and I was blazing!! and feel they thought they would make a killing seeing a woman alone with a child.
Thanks
Kath
That is a real case of a bunch of money grabbing cowboys in action. Who the hell do these plonkers think they are?
As the others have stated just ignore everything else they send you and don't contact them anymore.0 -
Of course if you take note of Honest John in The Daily Telegraph (see other thread) Hollie should send the PPC £5 or £10
to cover the costs involved.:rotfl:
The fact that she had already purchased a ticket, and there was no loss doesn't really matter in the eyes of hack jounalists, or more probably his media graduate research assistants.0 -

The case of Combined Parking Solutions v Stephen Thomas is widely discredited. Many believe it is a total set up and it is clear that "Perky" the owner of CPS has pretended to be Stephen Thomas in the past. Leaving that aside, the case turned on the fact that the defendant Thomas admitted to being the driver on an online forum and then denied it in court. This coloured the view of the judge against him so much that he could not possibly win. The case therefore has no relevance.0

Hi,
We were clamped in Windsor and had to pay £120 to release the clamp. We didn't know at the time that I could have called the police asking the parking company to release the vehicle and send us an invoice.
So we paid, but using a credit card hoping we could charge back. Now the trouble is, this is a car rented from Streetcar, who usually pass on any invoices etc, as they cannot ignore them being a company.
So we are thinking of organising a charge back through our bank and hoping they won't react. We fear they will hand over the case to debt collectors who will threaten Streetcar, who in return will pay and ask us to pay for the money. I don't think they are going to take it to court though, because it's not their business model.
If we were the car owners, we could simply charge back and ignore any notifications. But we are stuck with Streetcar. Streetcar said they are supporting us in any activities, as long as they are legal, meaning, any open invoices will have to be cleared, one way or another (e.g. through appeal).
Does anyone have experience with this kind of case? Are private clampers in Windsor Castle Car park likely to hand over the case to debt collectors? What does Streetcar need to be afraid of?
Cheers

IIRC Windsor castle is well known over on pepipoo, he's a nasty piece of work, clamps you for anything. I suggest that you go to pepipoo and post there as well. If I remember correctly the clamper owns the car park (I might be wrong so please correct me if so) so the usual county court claim might not work here.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Just ignore, this company is well known on here and they are all empty threats from them. And, by the way, it's not a "fine" it.s an invoice. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
