  • They say in their letter that they only charge so that there customers have parking spaces. There were plenty of places available. Do I still have to pay?

You were a customer, and you had a parking space.
Even if you weren't a customer you would still owe them nothing.
    It's a scam, ignore them.

Got this morning a PARKING ENFORCEMENT NOTICE from APCOA. Date of issue is 20/9, but only recieved the letter today...

"Notice is hereby served to the owner of the vehicle registration mark xxxxxx

For the alleged contravention of 03- Entry into a restricted area

At LUTON AIRPORT on x/x/10 at xx:xx

The alleged contravention is a BREACH OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE of the Airport road infrastructure and signs are clearly displayed throughout the area showing these terms and conditions.

A charge of £80.00 is payable and must be paid before the end of the period of 28 days beginning with the date of this notice. If the charge is paid before the end of the period of 14 days beginning with the date of service of this notice, the amount of the charge will be reduced by 50%. If the above charge is not paid before the end of the 28 day period, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS MATTER MAY BE PASSED TO A THIRD PARTY FOR THE RECOVERY OF THIS DEBT"

I just stopped to drop off my sister , it took me exactly 5 seconds and then I drove from there. I read all the history of the PPC in the threads here and I understand I should not pay. Your advise will be appreciated.
  • Seems to be a spate of posts about Luton airport, they must have changes the rules to allow a ppc in. AFAIK its safe to ignore this crew.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

I like how your meant to stop to read the Terms & Conditions of parking before you enter the Airport, do they have a place to park safety outside to read before saying "Yes I agree to these T&Cs" and driving on?

    I doubt it :P

    Hi
I hope someone can give me advice on next steps to take, so thank you in advance.

I received a private parking charge in Winter Gardens car park in Morecambe from a company called Predator Security UK Ltd on the 5th Sep 2010
I was alone with my 3 year old grandchild, I could not leave her alone in car, so and had to take her out of the car, put her in her pram to go about 100yds to the machine to purchase a pay and display ticket.

When I returned to my car there was a parking charge on my windscreen stating I had parked with no valid ticket, I managed to find the attendant who put it on my car about 800 yds away by this time and said I was at the ticket machine buying a ticket, he was unco-operative and shouted I could appeal. The ticket stated I had parked at 15:09 (written in blue ink) and my printed ticket from machine stated 15:14.

I wrote a three page letter enclosing photographic evidence of the distance of the ticket machine from my car, and they have written back yesterday 24th Sep, on plain A4 paper, with a small picture of a black cat on the left hand side, stating that I have to pay the fine! as I failed to dispaly a ticket on windscreen. (How could I if I was on my way to get the bloody ticket!!) (this was before reading these posts about no contact with these companies!

There was no reply to my main question of how was I supposed to have a ticket if I was on my way to machine to buy one!

I am aware now from the posts on here that I should have ignored this ticket, but this is the first time this has happened and I was blazing!! and feel they thought they would make a killing seeing a woman alone with a child.

    Thanks
    Kath
  • You are correct, you should now ignore them. The so-called "appeals" process from private parking companies is a sham. They are all done "in house", so it's in the company's interest to reject all appeals. Finally this is not a "fine", it's an unenforceable invoice.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Hollie, the ticket is not enforceable, you have paid so there is no loss to them, just completely ignore everything else you get from them, and just file it away in the I will not pay section of your files ;)
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

do what I did kath and IGNORE. as taffy says: they would be unable to demonstrate a 'loss' if it ever went to court (which it won't).

and IGNORE the inevitable letter - threats, warning you of bailiffs, courts, etc. they'll be hoping you panic and pay.
don't give them this satisafaction (or your money).
  • Many thanks, I feel a bit more relieved now,
I was worried because I have written to them and they have my details now!!
But I will ignore them now.
