Quick question, can a person be registered disabled but not have a blue-badge?

I'm only asking this because in the Sainsburys in Badger Farm, Winchester has signs up over the disabled bays saying something along the lines of "These bays are reserved for the use of customers whom are registered disabled, if you are not registered disabled please don't park in then", but then if you look at the Euro Car Parks "Contract" signs it says they will invoice you if you park in a disabled bay without showing a blue-badge. Just another reason to ignore the invoices if they can't even agree on whom is allowed to park in disabled bays.

Our local Sainsbury's (not patrolled by a PPC) has that sign. Much more sensible than all that nonsense spouted by the PPCs.

There's no such term any more as 'registered disabled' as such. There is the Blue Badge scheme of course but Sainsburys can't legally restrict people whose disability means they need the provision, from using it.

If they meet the DDA definition of disabled they can avail themselves of the provision. And they don't need to put out a Blue Badge any more than they need to be using a wheelchair.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Disgraceful that a public body like an NHS trust endorses a scam in their car park, this is actually a tax on the sick and the staff working at the hospital, I know this will not make it easier, but hospitals in Wales and Scotland are free for patients and staff , its ridiculous that the same can't be done in England!

In regards to the ticket completely ignore the scammers, and tell your granny to pass on any letters to you so you can ignore, don't let these people intimidate you or her. If your employer deducts money out of your wages to pay the ticket, that would be illegal imo, and you should sue them andthe PPC for that money, and the money you have handed over already, I would be inclined to take the NHS trust to court together with the PPC to get your £40 back, you won't lose!
Having already examined some hospitals' car park management using FOI application it has become clear that they have handed over the running of their car parks to FM companies who in turn have contracted the PPC's. In the case of some PFI schemes the Trusts don't get anywhere near the running of the car parks. Quite how the PPC's can claim to be representing the rights of landowners in such circumstances seems unclear as they would not have any direct contact if any.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • Hi, been issued a few pcn's over the last few months on a hospital car park for not displying a permit, I work at the hospital but hardly use the car park, maybe weekends when there is chance of a parking space, then I just put a sign in stating where I was working, which used to be ok, but now we have a new jobsworth on site..now these pcn's are issued by the Acute Hospital Trust (NHS). 1st offence £5.00,2nd offence £10.00, subsequent offences £65.00.
I have not payed but they do state they will obtain details from dvla and forward to debt recovery.
Just wondering what kind of clout they have as they are not private or council run, which I have read a lot of on these forums..

I imagine there might be a PPC lurking in the background. It's very unusual for a hospital trust do do this sort of work themselves. They say they can obtain details from the DVLA. To do that they must be an "approved member" of the BPA.

A couple of universities pretend to be pseudo-PPCs, but all the dirty work is done for them by a PPC in Northampton.

  • Just a quick question, don't know if its been asked before but here goes.
I was issued with PCN on Friday from Stockton on Tees Borough council, I am not denying the parking offence, however the PCN does have some inaccuracies, namely:- On the envelope containing the PCN their operative had originally wrote what looks like "Lillian St." and then he/she has scribbled it out and wrote "High St" above it.
My vehicle was actually parked in Knowles street which runs parallel to Stockton High Street.
Does this render the PCN invalid?

Could you start your own thread, as this one specifically deals with private parking tickets, and not ones issued by councils.

  • My wife received a parking ticket when she parked in the car park of a well known restaurant chain. My wife used the restaurant but the parking company have asked for proof of this. My wife does not keep receipts and so cant prove that she ate there. Is it not the burden on the parking company to prove that my wife did not eat there if the case goes to court just in the same way that a council has to provide a photograph if you park on a double yellow?

Also, the parking company asks for payment to be sent in to them even if an appeal is sent in. I have complained to the BPA for which the company is a member of and they have confirmed that this is not allowed and have asked the parking company to remove this term from their tickets.

    Thanks

From now on just ignore these clowns. You do not have to provide them with anything, be it proof you were eating there or you inside-leg measurement!

That's very interesting regarding sending in the payment with the "appeal". I am sure many more PPCs who are members of the BPA also have that condition on their tickets.

  • Many thanks for this but my wife sent off payment and I am now trying to get this back through the small claims court and wanted to know who has to povide the proof.
