    cloud dog,

I did a similar thing, but didn't word it quite so well (!) and have heard nothing. I cancelled the world pay agreement as well, so I don't think they will be able to touch the credit card, and am changing the phone bill into my wife's name which I was told will cease the line. I don't think they will bother chasing after us as we are within our rights (thats the impression I got from their supervisor). Good luck!
  • Do e-mails count when cancelling contracts or does it have to be a physical letter?
I have had no response from their "cancellations department" despite being promised a call back. If this company isn't a reincarnation of E7 I'll eat my hat.

I notice there's no contact details on the screen you get. Has anybody got their address? Is it different to E7evens?

for those wanting dial up whilst sorting out a new broadband connection - Fast4 http://www.fast4.net/ provide dialup access via freephone number for £4.99 per month - It is a monthly contract with 28 days notice period.
I used them before I had broadband, and am using it again now.
It didconnects after 2 hours, but my dialler just re-dials and I am in again.
    To infinity and beyond!

Following posts on adslguide forum I have been trying to get BT to remove tags by the back door - i.e. cease and reconnect my BT line. They tried to be helpful but told this would not work as the tag would still be there after the reconnect or change of account name.

So we are stuck and have to wait until due process kicks in. I want to kick someone but cannot and am very frustrated like everyone. One good thing to come out of this -I can't throw away money on things I don't really need on ebay.

As to where to go to - interested in AOL silver - works out at £164.89 for 12 months (1MBPS) with free wireless router until August. Any other recommends other than Madasafish?

The DSR specifically state that you must use a durable form of communication when exercising your right to cancel. This can be a fax, email, or written letter.

Seem like further bad news for us from ofcom

    http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/internet/e7even/

    Updated 10 July 2006

    Background

E7even has informed Ofcom that its customer contracts for broadband have now been cancelled. The company is directing former customers to an alternative service provider called Ezee DSL (also known as 186k Limited).

Current options available to former E7even customers

The following options are available to former E7even customers at present:

If your e-mail address looked like this: “username@e7broadband.com”, then:

    1. If you wait until 14th of July, your connection to the E7even site will end. If you then wait 10 working days until 31st July, you will be able to re-order broadband by choosing a new provider.

    2. Before 14th July, E7even is directing former customers to Ezee DSL/ 186k Limited, to sign up to a minimum 12 month contract.

    3. If you want to order a dial up internet service with a provider of your choice, you can do so now. If you plan to transfer from dial up to a broadband service later, you should check the costs and conditions of this with the provider before you order a dial up service.

If your e-mail address looked like this: “username-e7even@bbuk”, then:

    1. E7even is directing former customers to Ezee DSL/ 186k Limited, to sign up to a minimum 12 month contract.

    2. We are seeking further information about when former customers’ lines will be freed, so that they can order broadband with a new provider of their choice. We will update this webpage, as soon as that information is available.

    3. If you want to order a dial up internet service with a provider of your choice, you can do so now. If you plan to transfer from dial up to a broadband service later, you should check the costs and conditions of this with the provider before you order a dial up service.

    Ofcom’s powers

Ofcom has been following developments at E7Even closely, and has opened a formal regulatory investigation into the company, which is ongoing. We are also actively exploring a number of options to resolve the problems experienced by E7Even customers, including talks with other providers, to try to bring about an effective solution to the loss of service as quickly as possible.

    Future updates

We will issue further updates as soon as we have more information.

BB, I sent mine via recorded delivery (guaranteed delivery and they had to sign for it), the problem with e-mails is that you have no way of knowing / guranteeing delivery of the e-mail; hense its always better to pay the few quid and send it by letter.

You could use the address in the text of my letter (post 692) or click on the link to Companies House, entering the company number.
