Thanks Wally but unfortunately whilst it gave the password, username and modem settings it did not give the price (which I do have a record of) or the length of the contract(which I do not). A start date yes but not a finishing date.0

Joy at last. Found a copy of the sign up details which whilst not dated say that it is a "biennial" offer. Together with the activation e-mail(dated) should be enough to prove that the contract had another year to run. Will forward details to credit card company and keep fingers crossed.0

I notice the eezedsl website is currently down.
Does anyone have a saved copy of the T's & C's.

I am getting the runaround from ezee help line when trying to cancel what I thought was a one month deal paid by credit card. They clearly have an Indian call centre so I'm duboius about their ability to make decisions about cancellations remotely. The two people I've spoken to have been evasive and one hung up on me (I was being very nice, polite etc)
Has anyone managed to cancel successfully yet?
I certainly would not advocate signing up to ezee just to get a MAC as read on forum chats - too risky.0 -

With still no information from Offcom, I phoned BT Wholesale for the third time today. Very briefly (as I'm at work just now) this is the outline of what I was told:
1) Big meeting yesterday with Offcom, BT, * and others
2) Possibility of a link between E7 and Ezee DSL, strongly advised not to sign up with them.
3) If you have a business which relies on the internet, BT advises stopping line and applying to restarting line in another name (such as partner). This may take a few days but it is the only way BT can legally release the tag (this has been mentioned before on the forum)
4) Otherwise advice is to use dial-up and wait for developments. If tag is not released on 14 July as promised, Offcom are expected to take legal action to enable BT to release tag.
* Edited to remove Tiscali as cdsheldon confirmed they did not attend meeting/callTo infinity and beyond!0 -

You seemed to skim past my post it seems....
The 14th July is a date when ceases will start to get placed on the line, so customers are looking at a further 7-10 working days before the 'tag' ie. broadband service is disconnected fully off the line.
With regards to the ezee representative, yes you & e7 do have the same ties. Your broadband services are supplied both by Tiscali Wholesale, the 'new' connection you promise customers is nothing more than a new billing account & some log-on details as you both use the same network.
BT Wholesale have not 'officially' endorsed or advised any options on removing the broadband off the line quicker, its merely letting customers know of what happens on a start-stop process with phone lines & broadband. How the customer goes about this is their responsibility.0 -
normanmark, I didn't miss your post.
I guess what cdsheldon meant was that if BT hadn't had the cease request by 14th, that OFCOM would take action.
I personally feel they should have taken action already. I think that the only reason the request hasn't beem put in to BT is to ensure that e7eedsl con more people into signing up for their overly expensive 'service'.
My contract with e7 was due to end last week anyway so I reckon the cease should be done automatically at contract end !
The whole process is ridiculous and OFCOM recognise this. They told me that they did need to enhance it severely as the processes were put in place ages ago and haven't been changed to keep up with the ever-changing market place. To infinity and beyond!0 -

Have previously sent e-mails requesting info, no joy. Today sat on the phone for 45 mins until I got through to their call centre. Guy was unable to help and said he wouldpass my details onto the contracts department........I said why not just transfer me to them.......after a while he comes back saying they are having telephone problems (yeah), but I insist. Eventually spoke with the Customer Relations Manager (Mike Brown) who basically said the contract is 12 months, take it or leave it.
Contacted trading standards and went back over everything. The bottom line is that you do have 7 WORKING days to cancel you contract WITHOUT ANY penalty under the "Consumer Protection (Distant Selling) Regulations 2000".
I have now just sent a recorded delivery letter to ezeedsl (will arrive tomorrow - 7th day) requesting that as per the regulations they cancel my contract without any penalty. Text below if anyone wants to use it:

Dear Sir
ADSL Telephone Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
User ID: xxxxxxxx@e7even.com
Subject: Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000
Under the rights granted to me by the above referenced consumer protection I am exercising my right to cancel the service contract I have entered into with “ezee dls” (the provider) for a 1Mb broadband service.
The above regulations provide the consumer with the ability to cancel a (distant selling) contract within 7 working days of a contract commencing without incurring any penalty.
I wish to cancel the whole contract without incurring any penalty, due to the providers failure to notify me of my statutory rights to cancel the contract within a cooling off period.
Please provide written confirm, within 14 days receipt of this letter, that you will carryout the requirement of these regulations.
If you have any issues regarding my request please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please note this letter is in addition to my previous communications:
• E-mail of 02/07/06 - Ticket No. xxxxxx
• E-mail of 09/07/06 - Ticket No. xxxxxx
• Telephone Call 10/07/06 Discussion with Mike Brown (CRM)
Yours faithfully
====================
I'll let you know how it goes. What I expect to happen is that it is cancelled and that they will charge my CC with 12 months charges and then I will have to take legal action.

Good Luck Cloud_dog - Great letter !
I would also inform your credit card provider that you have cancelled the contract and send a copy of the letter.
Cheers
