I would appreciate if you could post the dial up number supplied by Scott. My connection is temperamental to say the least. Was without a broadband connection between 5th Jan and 23rd (and could only access the free dial up for about 3 days the entire time )and then no connection from 7th Feb till 9th.
Numerous phone calls within that time to tech support and customer support lines which continually either disconnected or would not work. On 25th Jan eventually in response to a desperate message on the 23rd my connection was miraculously working again only to have it disappear on 7th Feb. Another tech support phone call and 2 days later an email response (not to their webmail I might add. After a few problems with that at the start of my contract I realised that it was safer to stay with Hotmail or Gmail so any emails from them go to those addresses.) Told me to check my username etc which I did. Suddenly connection "working"
Current connection speed is appalling and keep getting disconnected from messenger or it won't sign in at all. Running the trouble shooter sometimes fixes it and I can sign in, other times no joy.Web pages take minutes to load or won't load at all and I have "no web page to display" error messages although I know there is nothing wrong with the site. Clicking links in email takes dozens of clicks to respond at all and for some reason it hates Hotmail with a vengeance, almost always no page to display and I have to reload numerous times.
Really getting fed up now. My boyfriend is not even in the same town and he has the same problems or worse with the service and with the same sites. He often can't log in to his work webmail and I can't get into my uni server or webmail. Complete nightmare!
Prior to all this I had no problem with the service apart from a few minor glitches which they resolved fairly quickly. Really losing faith in them now. Incidentally I am on the e7broadband.com login although during the short time between resumption of service on 25th Jan till 7th Feb I was back on e7even log in again as nothing else would work.
I have emailed them using my most recent support ticket with all the problems and see what the response is...meantime that number would be really helpful thanks!I love this site! :j0 -
The problems you are having with the main sites such as ebay, hotmail, msn can hopefully be solved, but you may not like the answer.
If you are on e7broadband.com then you will need to change a setting in your router which is called MTU. It needs to be altered to 1430 (or possibly lower. If 1430 gives improvements but still problems, change it to 1400)
Read this post over at adsl guide
if you are using a usb type modem then it can still be altered but you need to download and run a program called Drtcp. Mentioned in the above post, but highlighted adsl guide0 -
On the e7broadband domain, things seems to changing at their end every few days.. I'm constantly having to swap between routers (Linksys1 or 2 and Smartcom) and web clients (Firefox, Opera, and IE). Currently using the Linksys1, Firefox works on most sites but not MSE, so ...today I are been mostly Operatic..
I've only ever had the 'check your username' response even though I've only ever swapped kit without changing name/password or any other settings (and told them this) - guess they must have this as an automated response.
(and even Opera times out when I first click 'Post' on MSE - 2nd click posts immediately!).0 -
ManAtHome, it is essential that you change MTU settings if you are on e7broadband.com if you havent already done so.

I have an ethernet modem its a safecom 4 port. I am not sure even from reading the above post how to change the MTU setting?I love this site! :j0

in fact... I think I have sorted it! I am almost afraid to speak too soon but I downloaded the little programme and changed the setting to 1430 a few mins ago. Restarted pc and tried messenger, hotmail etc and ALL have logged in immediately, links have opened without repeated clicking too!
I feel almost as excited as I did when my broadband returned after the long break! (Sad I know , but it was like Christmas all over again! Can live easily without tv but NO Internet!!! that is the unthinkable!)I love this site! :j0 -
Thanks for the reminder Guy - remembered reading your (very detailed) post about this some time back. Tried changing settings at the time but still couldn't connect. e7broadband service has since improved from absolute shambles to utter cr4p (hysterical LOL) - slight improvement on Firefox with MTU at 1430, will try a bit more tweaking later (providing Opera and IE still work...)

Guy_Wise wrote:Well done, seekaywun, Drtcp changes MTU on your pc, but you should also try to change it on your router.
Safecom did you say ?
This may help over here
Yes that's exactly my modem and I have now done that too! Really happy now and I will pass this info on to my boyfriend too. Thanks guy wise that was very helpful advice .I love this site! :j0 -
As taken from https://www.e7broadband.com
Current Status
Update: 09:40:57 14-02-2006.
Apart from the -e7even@bbuk part of network, all other parts of the broadband network are working without problems. We are looking to improve the speeds on the -e7even@bbuk part of the network in the next 5-7 days by moving 50% of the current connections off that part of the network completely. This will be done with a combination of those having received or about to receive their MAC and are migrating away, together with a cross network migration of some users to another part of the network that is not so congested.
We are also making good progress with dealing with the high volume of emails, voicemails, letters and faxes – over 40% of the backlog has been cleared in the last 7 days and we are looking to further reduce this backlog over the coming 2-weeks by implementing new methods of online support and further increasing human resources to deal with the remaining enquiries, refunds and technical problems that some customers are still experiencing after the network restructuring.
Again we apologise unreservedly for the ongoing issues with this small part of the network and assure you of our every effort in getting this matter sorted as soon as possible. If at first you don't succeed - destroy all evidence that you tried.0
